When my daughter saw today’s challenge on the calendar, she exclaimed, “I know exactly where we should go!”:

I have some Arts and Crafts style houses in my Strava, but these Arts and Crafts projects were cuter.

ParticipantI found this confusing. This article uses the terms Arts and Crafts and Craftsman interchangeably, so I found a house mentioned.
https://patch.com/virginia/vienna/viennas-craftsman-style-home-building-boom-0
“Craftsman is a term given to homes largely built between 1905 and the early 1920s, Ted Bosley, director of the Gamble House, a National Historic Landmark in Pasadena, Calif., recently told The Wall Street Journal in its article. The Gamble House is considered a prime example of craftsman architecture
It’s a design style that’s so popular it has at least two magazines devoted to the subject, Arts & Crafts Homes and American Bungalow Magazine. Each year, the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. holds an Arts & Crafts Conference.”
Another article:
https://exhibitions.lib.umd.edu/williammorris/morris-influence/arts-and-crafts-movement
“William Morris believed people should be surrounded by beautiful, well-made things. This vision inspired the emergence of the Arts and Crafts movement in the 1860s. Morris’s lectures and essays on art and his rediscovery of traditional craft techniques helped spread the movement, as did the decorative designs and products from his company: Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.
As a diverse international movement, Arts and Crafts encompassed many characteristics. There was no single manifesto and no one style to which it adhered. Several Arts& Crafts guilds, organizations, and schools helped fuel the movement.
The core characteristics of the Arts and Crafts movement are a belief in craftsmanship which stresses the inherent beauty of the material, the importance of nature as inspiration, and the value of simplicity, utility, and beauty. The movement often promoted reform as part of its philosophy and advanced the idea of the designer as craftsman.

Arts & Crafts are also quite popular around Denver. You can see rows and rows of bungalow homes in some neighborhoods. Nothing really stands out & catches my eye like Mid Mod though. Took plenty of pics today, but no obvious, most memorable one. Decided on this final one I found on my ride; an updated Craftsman with nice colors and elephantine columns on the entry porch. The snow & trailer in the front went well with home and surrounding trees.

Not really ugly, but for those who like symmetry, this is a bit startling.March 17, 2022 at 4:57 pm #1121169cvcalhoun

I felt like choosing a house that was ugly because the owners couldn’t afford to keep it up would just be piling on. So I went for the home renovated by Gizelle Bryant of Real Housewives of Potomac. For reference, it’s in Bethesda, not Potomac, but I suspect that is the least of what is unreal about the show. In any event, she took a perfectly normal house (“before” photo also showing the house during the renovations is in my Strava ride) and added on the “West Wing,” which looks like a separate house just sort of stuck on the end of her house. Then she put a two story entryway into the middle of a one-story house. So now her one house looks like a whole row of row houses, only with less of a coherent style. And I’m not the only one who thinks the renovations made it ugly.

Ugliness is in the eye of the beholder I guess. My husband thinks this house is “cool” looking because it’s so boxy. Nope, nope…Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The term “ugly” is subjective. But my mom always said, “Ugly is as ugly does.” This banner has been up in front of this house for quite a while. I don’t care which president it is insulting, this is just ugly behavior. And it’s right next to a school – a great way to model respectful adult behavior to the kids there.

I dislike the Edwardian look too. A good half of the houses I took pix of today are this style too. I still hafta choose which one to post here though…
