I rode all the way downtown in strong headwinds in order to take a photo of the City Art Museum. While down there I saw even more murals than I had in the past plus some sculptural pieces that were pure delight.

But in the end, I couldn’t stop thinking about the outdoor gallery of art that captures the heart and soul of this city. Painted on freeway pylons, these murals cover so many aspects of the unique El Paso culture. There are even “older works” on the pylons of the earlier freeway that are being preserved. Of course, since it’s a huge park, I can’t get them all, but this photo gives you a taste. The first work is “El Chuco” which is a slang word for El Paso. It refers to the zoot suit and low rider culture that is an amalgamation of American and Mexican cultures.

Depot Art Gallery in Littleton. Good thing snow wasn’t accumulating too fast on the roads and this place wasn’t any further.

I’ll have to actually visit sometime when they’re open and I’m not frozen. I like the caboose gallery naming.

I took this photo through the glass as the gallery was closed. This is Maggie O’Neill’s “Fearless Girl,” inspired by Kristen Visbal’s Fearless Girl, a four-foot bronze statue of a young girl in juxtaposition to Arturo DiModica’s iconic Wall Street Charging Bull in New York City.

The artist has a studio at 12 District Square SW, Washington, DC. She painted President Obama’s portrait, and she even met him.

Waverly Street Gallery, 4600 East West Highway in Bethesda. I know there are a lot of public art museums in this area, but this seemed more in line with the theme of small business. It has a huge mural on the other side of a walkway from it, which I’ll include in my Strava.
