Metamorphic bedrock along the Holmes Run. This area once thrived with beavers and other animals, including black bear, bison, mountain lion, and the passenger pigeon. Through development, humans managed to wipe out most of the animals and destroyed the wetlands that provided habitat for many animals and to control flooding. This is an example of environmental geography – how humans have interacted with the physical environment.

Denver metro has nice geography for cyclists. Beautiful mountain views (when it’s not hazy and flat areas if you need a retreat from climbing. Just know that mountains are West & plains are East.
