Please return to your regularly scheduled day. I think it was along Cameron Station Blvd in Alexandria? Arlington?
I would post this pic to the #publicartfinder thread. It certainly is a beautiful gazebo! And I too posted a gazebo on this thread after gazebo day [emoji18]

Computer science TOTALLY made Strava possible. So I’m submitting this screenshot of my ride today for today’s entry.
When I was a kid my father was a math professor at UPR-Rio Piedras, and the university computer (there was ONE!) took up a whole room and used punch cards! This was in the 70s.

This is my bike at Grace Murray Hopper park in Arlington. Grace Murray Hopper was a mathematician, computer scientist, and naval officer. She helped develop COBOL, one of the first standardized computer languages; may have coined the term “bug” to describe a computer malfunction after a moth got trapped in a machine she was working on; and was named the first computer science “Man of the Year” in 1969 by the Data Processing Management Association. She was also a longtime resident of Arlington’s River House, where there is now a park named after her, and she was buried in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. I remember doing my taxes before tax computer programs were available. While I still don’t like doing taxes, at least it is easier thanks to computer science.

This is a continuous loop video that plays overhead as you exit the Wiehle Ave metro station in Reston. (Too bad it’s against the rules to submit a video!) This would not be possible without computer science.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Riding past this sign I thought of the people who use computer science and mathematics to beat the lottery. E.g. http://archive.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2011/07/31/a_lottery_game_with_a_windfall_for_a_knowing_few/?page=fullFebruary 23, 2022 at 2:49 am #1119903bikedavid

This is the Arlington Adult Education building. They have computer science classes here. They also have cool reflective glass that allows me to take a selfie of me and my trike! (Might have to zoom in to see me)

The computer science know how that went into designing traffic lights so that us cyclists can pass through intersections safely.

I’m sure computer science is used at this UBreak IFix place on Rockville Pike. -
