ParticipantThough I often identify my kids by their real names in my Strava posts, in the spirit of this competition my 8 year old Declan is now Gryffindor and my soon-to-be-12-year-old Norah is Hufflepuff.
The leaderboard is working well, nice work jrenault!

OK, so the kids chose different names, and now they’re number two and three! Let’s see if we can keep it up… #withkidSpeedDemon and #withkidMagicFlame

ParticipantCongratulations to 2021 top Pointless Kid MBear! My younger daughter, who finished second, was constantly checking the leaderboard. “Did MBear ride today?” If she did, mine wanted to go out for a ride, too.

ParticipantBUMPING up thread
Happy New Year! This is the mama bear to MBear who convinced our family to sign up for freezing saddles again this year. We’re hoping there will be lots of kids up on the kids leaderboard to give more incentive for family rides. Last year was a neck and neck competition for first and second place, decided by the very last ride on the final competition date.
Happy and safe biking, everyone!
PS MBear may be changing her name to an animal with more spots…

ParticipantHappy New Year 2023, biking families! Hoping to see other kids show up riding their own bikes or tagging along for a ride.

We just have to say that for liability reasons.
For the “#withkid” standings that this expands upon, the age-limit is 14.
Princess of the Mark will be pleased with this decision.

ParticipantI will add this to the list if this is a pointless prize. Who sponsors it? @jrenaut?

That would be a classic #kidical ride

ParticipantBUMP!
any 2024 freezing saddlers planning to ride with kids on their bikes, in trailers, or on their own bikes next to them?
My #withkidSnowy is hoping for more competition this year!January 3, 2024 at 2:52 am #1127819chill-dad

There is! It looks like it still works from previous years if you scroll down the “pointless” data tracking tab.
As of post-bedtime 1/2/24 there are 3 kids currently in the competition for riding under their own power:
https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/pointlesskids2 adults riding with kids:
https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/hashtag/withkidI don’t think anyone’s tagged a #kidical ride transporting kids on their bike yet, but I think they should show up here:
https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/kidmilesOne key part of taking a kid somewhere and dropping them off is remembering to stop the Strava to tag them on their part of the ride and then *restart* it again to capture the rest of your ride. Nothing like riding a bunch of miles and realizing that you forgot to hit start again.

Note you can also split a ride (Click the ride at strava.com, then the 3 dot menu at the left has “split”). Then you can tag the kid in just the relevant part
