Yesterday I had the chance to visit Tri360, the new shop opening up off the W&OD on Westmoreland Street, to snap a couple photos of the construction going on in the space there.

I’ll have a full write up tomorrow, but in the meantime, check out the photos on our Facebook page: http://on.fb.me/MrFSzC

    A few details:

-triathlon focused, with an emphasis on being community-oriented
-welcoming to everyone, from first time commuters to seasoned athletes, with customer service being of utmost importance
-full service shop, just a few yards from the W&OD trail
    -www.tri360.com and http://www.twitter.com/tri_360
-depending on how construction comes along, they want to open in the next month or two!

ooh, are they going to have a few different fit areas?

also, are you involved with the shop in any way?

I think it’s just going to be one fit area, and they’re not going to start off with any of the fancy 3d/laser fitting systems in the first couple months.

I am not involved with the shop in any way, other than being a fan of triathlon, and happy to see another shop come into Arlington.

Now we need something in that area for breakfast or before Chas’n Tails opens.

Somehow I always seem to forget they’re even there. The exception to that was in my naive stage when I would ride the sidewalk on the block between Westmoreland and the W&OD and they frequently had their door tied open blocking most of the sidewalk. Made me vow to never patronize them. Maybe I’ll have to reconsider.

Of course, 9am is too late for breakfast for me. Maybe a second breakfast after a weekend ride.

Croissants are fantastic. Fam took me here for Father’s Day. Pretty good coffee too.

It is starting to look like a bike shop.

In that picture it looks more like an apple store. :)

I could see a couple bikes through the window when I rode down Westmoreland on Saturday. But it dark inside and I didn’t go over and press my nose to the glass to get a better view.

They lost a potential sale today. I went in to test ride a bike or two as I’m thinking about upgrading to a better tri bike. The first person I saw when I walked in was a mechanic. I said “how’s it going,” and got in return a “who the $%^& do you think you are” silent stare. Okaaay. So the place has no customers. I browse around a bit and get totally ignored. I’m thinking, “I’ve seen this movie before and it sucked,” so off to Bonzai I went. Perhaps if over the next year or two I hear some strongly contradictory opinions I might give them another chance. But it’s not like the area lacks alternatives.

I had great experience at Tri360 yesterday. I broke down and bought a wetsuit because I’m tired of renting rubber underwear. I walked in and was able to work with a woman triathlete who understood what I was looking for. She was a good source for information about how things fit on real people. She gave me some insight into the Bumpass, Va tri course because she’s done it. I’m happy because now I have my very own rubber underwear and no longer have to share. ;)

I also had a good experience on Saturday. My riding partner (from PA) for the day and I stopped in after riding out the W&OD to Clark’s Gap and back. He had been in touch with the shop because they were the closest shop that carried a line of clothes he was interested in. We had good converstations with all four people in store and did not get any negative vibes. The owner even told us that if the PA guy was placing an order for his club in PA, the owner would drive up to PA to deliver. It was interesting to hear that right now the hybrid Obrea bikes are their biggest sellers (of course that’s only over their first month of being open, but I want one to use as my commuter, possibly replacing the Jamis Coda disc brake model as my commuter covet).
