Thanks Chris. I am now suddenly starving!

Those pancakes look delish — thin, crispy on the edges from being fried in butter, and dusted with powered sugar. Those are exactly how my grandmother (Polish/German/Ukrainian) made them. Very hard to find a pancake that good here in the US.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be an effigy of the cone monster.

I ended up back in DC for the weekend, borrowed a bike *just* to come to pancakes, so come. Eat pancakes.

Team D-Rock is planning for an 8:30 arrival on Jan. 2 for pancakes. Rockford’s phone call to Mike’s Deli this evening went something like this:

    “What are your hours tomorrow?”
    “The usual hours.”
    “Oh, really?”
    “Yeah, 8:30 to 3:00.”
    “”

No guarantees for those who may need to arrive at 7:30 (a.k.a. “the usual hours”).

“The usual” for holidays, that is. at least they say they’ll be open this time.

DKel and I went by Mikes this afternoon to find out their schedule tomorrow. They say they will open on time. We’ll be there a little late, maybe 8:00, for our Monday coffee.

Monday pancakes. This is no mere coffee club!

Due to the holiday on Monday, pancakes are iffy May 29. Team D-Rock will participate in the Falls Church City 3K and then hang out around City Hall with cheese fries and meat stick(s) and listen to the band. The 3k is at 9:00 and is a no-registration, no real running, must participate event in Falls Church.

I couldn’t begin to tell you when Mike’s will open, but I’m sure it’s not at 7:30.

We’d love to have any and all run with us, or help finish the cheese fries when I realize just how gross they are.

And we will be riding bikes to the 3k, so we will meet the requisite cycling component of our day. We should ride by mikes after cheese fries and get pancakes. Or just skip the cheese fries altogether, frankly.

I’m going to try swinging by Mikes at the normal bat time, but if they’re closed I’m going to ride around more and then try to find Team D-Rock after the running and cheese fries.
