Komorebi and I rode to Baltimore earlier in the day and only got short naps before Midnight Saddles so we left a bit early.

There’s a mirror at a blind corner on the Met Branch Trail. I called “bikes right” and then “never mind, it’s us in the mirror.” Tired brain.

I got a nice picture of Komorebi with a sharrow marking and the Washington Monument on the way home.

Here’s photographic evidence of pie consumption at Brookland’s Finest. Thanks for putting together the ride and for providing the pie, Steve, and thanks for organizing the Easter egg hunt, bobco. It was a fun ride, even on tired legs!

I definitely wanted to join the Midnight Saddles crew, but as I biked to Baltimore (baby’s first metric century+) with Judd and Komorebi earlier I don’t exactly regret spending the evening resting and watching the Caps lose. Hope to be a part of the next one!

I don’t regret the Caps losing either.

Good for you on the metric century Bill. I’m working my way up to that!

The Baltimore ride went a little something like this:

Birru: “This is the farthest I’ve ever ridden. I hope I don’t slow you guys down.”
Birru pulls for the last half of the ride.
    Komorebi gets 52 trophies.
    Judd gets 31 trophies.

Mmmm, Judd is from Illinois, maybe a fan of the Blackhawks that have not yet scored a goal in the playoffs.

I’m from the part of Illinois that hates the Blackhawks too, but I haven’t watched hockey seriously since Brett Hull played.

Hello night owls and late night diners!

The always popular summertime Midnight Saddles ride will be Saturday, July 8.

As usual, we will gather at the Washington Monument at 10:30 pm; wheels up at 10:45.

Route and destination TBD, but I’ll post it here in the next few days.

It’s coming up fast – 6 days from today. More details:

    Midnight Saddles – Summertime Edition

Date: Saturday, July 8 (into the morning of the 9th)
Time: 10:30 gather; 10:42 photo; 10:45 wheels up
    Starting location: Washington Monument
Destination: The Diner in Columbia Heights
    Route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1656042854
(note this route will take us on the brand new Klingle Road trail. Also note that mapmyride does not know it exists, so that section of the route is incorrect)
Fun Quotient: 2.6 times funner than Bicycle Fun Club and equally as fun as Bicycle Fan Club

Parts of this ride will be on dark trails (just like the Easter ride), so be sure to bring your good lights and have them fully charged.

Have dynohub, will travel. My last remaining excuse not to do this is gone. (More properly, it now resides on the the recently rescued Das Kettler). Color me interested…

I’ll be there! I haven’t yet ridden on the Klingle Valley Trail, so I’m looking forward to it.

In MapMyRide, you can uncheck the “Always Follow Roads” option when a trail/road isn’t recognized, plot out that portion, and then recheck it. The lines will be red, but the mapping will look more accurate.

I am disappointed that you did not use the mathematical constant e (Euler’s number) which is approximately 2.7182818284. Then, you could have had a nice and neat mathematical formula of FQ = BFaCl = e(BFuCl)

For those going on the ride (I don’t think I can make it and get up early enough to prepare for my daughter’s b-day party the next morning) – going in that direction, the trail is FAST. New surface plus decent elevation change (it’s a 7% to 10% gradient for the first half or so before flattening out) = wheeeeeee! And mind the bollards at the beginning… :)
