Hello Night Riders,

It’s looking good for next Saturday night, 2017’s first Midnight Saddles ride. Hope you can make it.
Gather at the Washington Monument at 10:30pm. Roll out 10:45pm

Here’s the route.

Final destination is Brookland’s Finest Bar & Kitchen, which is open until 2:30am on Saturdays.
One of the menu items is a whole pie (serves 6-8), which I think we should get. We need to order 3 days in advance. Let me know your preference:

• Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie (my fave)
• Sweet Potato Pie
• Chocolate Cream Pie

We can also request a custom pie if we like, so if you have a suggestion that you think we’ll all like, let us know.

I vote for either of the chocolate pies ;)

SarahBee & drevil, I bolded the relevant text bolded for each of you:

Date: Saturday, April 15 (don’t let taxes be your excuse; they aren’t due until April 17)
Time: 10:30 gather, 10:45 roll out
Place: Washington Monument
Route & Destination: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/1502126047/

Midnight Saddles rides are social rides. We ride as a group at a moderate pace and end at a late night establishment. Then we share food, drink and company.

Thank you sir! The only other questions I had are: Time, Place, and Route & Destination. ;)

The pie has been ordered. Pecan chocolate chip.
My treat; I get the first slice, then the rest of you can battle it out for the rest.

Looks like a lot of fun but I got very little sleep last night and rode to Baltimore with Judd and Komorebi. I just want to nap and relax with my wife. I think those nutters are still in though. Go them!

Well, that was awesome!! If I counted right, we had 14 Midnight Riders. I should have ordered 2 pies.
Judd & komorebi had already ridden to Baltimore during the day, so they get the Midnight Badass kudo.
I only took one picture, shown here, of Rachel’s spoke lights. Others took pictures. Please post them here, particularly if I look good in them.

Before the ride, I took the role of Easter Bunny and rode the route in reverse, dropping eggs off along the way. Each multi-colored egg had a colored frog light and piece of paper with a number between 1 and 18 on it for the special prize drawing to take place at Brookland’s Finest.

The first egg I hid (Judd found it; interestingly, he got the first and last eggs on the hunt); an egg near the Benning Rd bridge that everyone else missed

I thought this tooth-shaped bike rack outside a dentist’s office was really neat; taking our bikes onto the patio at Brookland’s Finest

Me and the robot library; some jerk parked their car in the middle of the Mall, encased it in a lit box, and hired a cop to watch it :p

Thanks again, Steve, for hosting this ride; it was a lot of fun!
