Had a fun time with everyone on this Midnight Saddles ride; thanks, Steve, for organizing it (and for sharing your milkshake :) )!

Here’s some of the pics I took during the ride:

(left) looking up at the Washington Monument, you can’t see the top; (right) the starting 6 who graciously waited as I fumbled with my tripod to set up the pic (bottom is zoomed in version of the top)

(left)standing with the Capitol; (right) double the cyclists at the Capitol Reflecting Pool

(left) moody alt rock album cover photo at the Capitol; (right) seen in Brookland, license plate is DEMISE, perhaps a bad omen?

(left) arriving at Slim’s Diner in Petworth, Chris joined us at the diner to make our group 7; (right) french toast with biscuit and sausage gravy which I made most of our group sample because it was THAT good

I didn’t get back home until 3:45 a.m., so this marks the latest bike ride that I have ever done. I hope everyone enjoys their spoke lights :)

You’ve been waiting for this! Announcing 2017’s first Midnight Saddles ride. Four times darker than Bicycle Fun Club and with food & milkshakes at the end.

Date: Saturday, April 15 (don’t let taxes be your excuse; they aren’t due until April 17)
Time: 10:30 gather, 10:45 roll out
    Place: Washington Monument
Route & Destination: TBD (watch this thread)

Midnight Saddles rides are social rides. We ride as a group at a moderate pace and end at a late night establishment. Then we share food, drink and company.

Not recommended for those with early Sunday morning responsibilities, but if you can sleep in a bit, then join us!

This sounds great but I’m a definite maybe for now. I may be heading up to Boston to see family for easter and cheer for my friend during the Boston Marathon.

A church musician’s response should be:

    a) What did I ever do to you?

    b) I thought we were friends!

    c) Fine. Be that way.

    d) All of the above.

    e) Substitute technology for your actual presence. No one will know.

You missed the Friday one we did in October. :p
    It was fun.

I actually have to do a fair bit of improvisation to fill gaps of indeterminate length. I like to think of it as job security.

I’ll be there. We’ll have to be on the lookout for the Easter bunny, though.

    Easy solution:

Just have someone plug it into the organ’s USB (they all have those nowadays, right?) with a rocking pipe solo. At the very worst, you’ll get a few responses afterward of, “Oh, hey, did you lose weight?” :D

I’m so bummed . I will be out of town watching my nephew play lacrosse at Va Tech. The one night I’m gone is when you schedule it. :( One of these times I’ll get to go!!

Probably in. The SO will be out of town and this is the one weekend from now until…?…that I don’t have a race conflict.

There are plans for a special night-friendly Easter egg hunt during the ride that involves a special prize, but I won’t say any more about it until the ride (only Steve O and I know :D:cool:). Hope to see y’all there!

    Hello Night Riders,

It’s looking good for next Saturday night, 2017’s first Midnight Saddles ride. Hope you can make it.
Gather at the Washington Monument at 10:30pm. Roll out 10:45pm

    Here’s the route.

Final destination is Brookland’s Finest Bar & Kitchen, which is open until 2:30am on Saturdays.
One of the menu items is a whole pie (serves 6-8), which I think we should get. We need to order 3 days in advance. Let me know your preference:

    • Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie (my fave)
    • Sweet Potato Pie
    • Chocolate Cream Pie

We can also request a custom pie if we like, so if you have a suggestion that you think we’ll all like, let us know.
