Still probable, can’t commit totally just yet.

*Where* are we rendezvousing on the Washington Monument grounds?

Also a note about Maine Ave.- Phase II of The Wharf is now under construction. Between 7th & 6th, the sidewalk and Water St. route we once used is gone. The sole option is to take the lane until 6th, at St. Augustine’s, where there is access to the dinner cruise boats, and I trust, the bike trail. Or take 4th…

Bobco, just for the “ooo-ah” factor, bring your Cascades Ride Leader jersey.

I just thought of something- we just might come across the hordes leaving The Anthem. Such is the timing…

We meet at the monument itself.

Haha, I would love to, but it’s not necessarily kosher to wear one for non-official Cascade rides. You’ll have to come out on one of my rides in Seattle to see me wear it!

Steve O: Sorry, I must scrub tonight. Energy’s just not there. Have a good one!

Pete has a Bikenetic Ride in the morning that also visits 12th & Florida NE. Will do that one instead. Mr. Salovesh will still be honored.

Bobco, there will be another opportunity to meet up somewhere. We need to take you to a certain pie shop on the Pike!

How’d it go? I was tempted to try and come in, but by 9pm was fading after all day out and about…

Sorry I missed it. I took a short nap in the afternoon and thought it might be enough, but sleep overcame me last night.

Only three of us made it, including a slenderer Bobco.

The Wharf from the Case Bridge

We found this art under a bridge near the Anacostia River trail

Mike, Bob and Steve O, a little damp from the rain, but happy about the ride.

I had a thoroughly good (and sometimes wet) time! It was really nice to enjoy one of my favorite things to do when I lived here which was to bike around DC at night. The city has a different vibe at night, and the monuments and rivers become quite serene to me. Thank you for a wonderful ride!

Here are some of the pics I took during the ride:

The trio of us, Steveo’s interesting wheel spoking, riding around Hains Point, looking down at the Wharf from the Case Bridge

Showing my team’s colors outside Audi Field (home of DC United), enjoying the concrete islands on part of the 2-way PBL next to Audi Field, This ride was brought to you by the letter “R”, and a pano of a photo installation on Good Hope Rd underneath the Anacostia Freeway from a boat cruise on the Anacostia River

We stopped to reflect at the ghost bike for Dave

Stopping for pizza at Wise Guys, my delicious chicken parm and meatlover’s slices, passing by the White House (haven’t done it in 6 months), and the “Lightweave” art installation on L St NE

Great ride. I’d never ridden along the Anacostia before, or on most of these trails and roads. The city looks different at night, and when you are sleepy. Wise Guys has great pizza – or does it just seem so at 1:30 a.m.? Thanks to Steve O for leading.

That wheel looks like SteveO wanted to use the same spokes when he converted from a standard hub to the dynamo hub and had to figure out what to do with the extra length to keep from destroying tubes.
