So descending order? Fingers crossed I’m not too far down the list.
Oh I was afraid I wouldn’t meet the height requirements unless you help me with some superfluous material above the neck
Who’s to say the superfluous bits are above the neck? Thinking I’ll ask the lumberjack to lop off a couple inches from the bottom, around the ankles. Get me some SPDs connected straight to the bone.

ParticipantI have nothing to contribute to this thread at the moment EXCEPT a digest of the conversation so far, in whatever order VBulletin decided to put it in
I’ll probably do the complete opposite of Josh and ride my full suspension mountain bike. Just wait for me at the stops.

P.S. Fantastic owl/bike graphic! Where did you find it?

Maybe? (I’m still negotiating my attendance; if I’m able to join, it probably would be just for the ride and not the food at the end since I’ll need to get home for normal morning responsibilities and, hopefully, making it to the rescheduled Tour de DCPL.)
@streetsmarts 179253 wrote:
Cool, thanks ! Yep, I’d do the ride and maybe leave when they get to Roslyn or Georgetown. Also, I’m planning to do the rescheduled Tour de DCPL too!

Mark your calendars, night owls. Announcing the first Midnight Saddles ride of 2018.
More details to follow, but ride will be similar to previous Midnight Saddles rides:
Friday, June 29
– Gather c. 10:30 PM with rollout at 10:45. Gather will be at the Lincoln Memorial apron due to construction at the Washington Monument
– Ride around in the dark. Warm summer night riding is particularly enjoyable, IMO
– End at a late night eatery
– Eat/drink
– Head home in the wee hours
– Sleep late on Saturday morningI’m thinking of ending at the Kabob Palace in Crystal City, which is open 24 hours. However, if there is a strong contingent from across the river who don’t want a really long ride home afterward, I can be lobbied to change the destination.

Friday, June 29, 2018
10:30 – Gather on the front apron of the Lincoln Memorial
10:45 – Roll out – here’s the route
10:53 – Check out the Hirshhorn’s outdoor sculptures at night
Enjoy the streets and sights of DC with little traffic and with your late-night buddies
11:30-11:45 – Photo op at the National Cathedral
12:30ish – Arrive Kabob Palace in Crystal City
Eat, Drink and share tales of the nightWee hours – Convoy home
Notes: Midnight Saddles is a group social ride. We stay together and ride at a moderate social pace with occasional stops for photos or to enjoy sights and sounds.
If you are uncomfortable and concerned about getting home afterward, we will make sure that everyone has an escort or riding partner who would like one.

Thanks for leading and planning a great ride last night.June 30, 2018 at 10:30 pm #1088175kwarkentien
ParticipantAnother Kudo for the dreaded Steve-O and his nekkid-but-for-brown-flip-flops-bendy-yellow-friend for another successful Midnight Saddles. But next time, I need an Amsterdam wheel for the f-ing climb to the Cathedral. Nearly killed me. Thankful that the rest was a screaming-descent through Glover Park and Georgetown.

ParticipantPending the “real” group photo – this is a screen capture from my video camera that was also illuminating the group at the start. Maybe there was too much light coming from my camera?

Steve O,
Thanks for leading and planning a great ride last night. You’re welcome. For those of you who missed it, I think we may have set an all-time attendance record. I think there were 14? What a great time with all of you! Thanks for coming along.
The highlight was definitely the bombing down Wisconsin after midnight.
Also, the train of about 15 Cabi Riders from Utah at nearly 1am riding the MVT to their hotel in Crystal City. Serious kudos to them.
And, we were at the corner of Massachusetts and 34th, where the Naval Observatory clock shows the official time, at exactly 12:00:00. I tried to take a picture, but it didn’t come out.
You know, that’s what makes Midnight Saddles so great. You never know what interesting stuff you might see, or unusual perspectives on the usual, in the middle of the night.July 2, 2018 at 1:39 am #1088189AliasXIII

SteveO- thank you again for guiding us again. Much fun!
Was surprised to come across 2 groups of hikers on the Mt Vernon at 1am… (or were there 3?)

I’m always sad to not make it to a midnight Saddles, especially since there were folks there that I haven’t met yet.
The tandem will be out in full force for the next one.*
*Unless Komorebi hates riding on it and refuses to Midnight Tandem.

ParticipantThere’s still time for people to get their flights booked and join me for a ride on Thursday, July 27. The eclipse starts just before sunset and will last about four hours. Unfortunately it will not be visible in the DC area.
