I left a copy of Wycliffe and the Dead Flautist at this LFL with a DC flag painted on it on 44th Street NW between Harrison and Garrison.

LFL 3/2/22 one half block from the empty one i found on Monday. 3104 S 6th St, Arlington8abd344ae06f6f334449b61a1097f56e.jpg
Why do people think anyone wants their old computer books or textbooks? Commonly seen during this LFL hunt.

LFL found on Viking Drive in Herndon. Love the artwork on the LFL. I did not see much in the way of children’s books so that would be a good addition to the library. (You can check out the other side of the library in my Strava feed. I forgot to check the back of the library as I was in a rush to catch up with my ride group.)

The MOM’s Little Free Library was built by Zach Renner, a Maryland based freelance artist and builder. He began building furniture and playground equipment for local schools and made use of the mass quantities of driftwood and other local materials.

That’s my bike parked outside to the left of the LFL. I left “Wild Vine” by Ted Kliman. No kids books so the next time I ride by will stop and deposit one.

LFL at 5333 Trailway Dr in Rockville did need more kids books. So I deposited this one with a blue cover (today’s scavhunt):

LFL on the Bluemont Trail near Bluemont and Illinois Sts.
Packed library, including a nice variety. I had to move things around to fit in some books left on the ground in a large ziplock bag. 2c376a9b22a31396339957e233849974.jpg

This LFL is very little but with some great titles, albeit exclusively adult. I left “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austin.

3/3/2022 (Missed yesterday when I discovered just as I was leaving the house that I had to take my dog to the emergency vet)
Left a copy of The Golden Egg at this vine covered LFL at 7505 Oldchester Rd, Bethesda. Thought about saying hello to Jessica Hirschhorn while I was there (the LFL is hers), but decided she might not welcome a social call at this hour.

I think people don’t know what to do with them. Libraries don’t want them, used books stores don’t either. If they’re hard cover, they’re not “recycle”. So they rationalize that “someone” might need this. Plus, back in the day when we had to purchase textbooks they were SO expensive there’s probably some mental thing about just throwing it away. All that said, feel free to take them out of the LFL, and deposit them in a trash can nearby if you think they’re really not useful for anyone else.
