LFL’s are few and far between here in El Paso Texas but I used the map and found a couple to ride to today. Hoping to participate in my own game (if not to claim a prize), I reached the end of the paved road and contemplated whether continuing 2 miles would be worth it. Mind, the gravel here is not gravel but desert grunge mixed with thorns. I had already come 10 miles so two more didn’t seem to be too much. When I reached my destinations I found no LFL’s and the two facilities where they were supposedly located completely locked up tight. Peering through the fence, I couldn’t see anything that looked like a little free library. I left the book I brought in the mailbox and started back home.
How’s the weather out that way? I may be headed to Las Cruces and the Phoenix area in a few weeks.

Little Free Library at 240 Wesmond Ave Alexandria. Well stocked including one of my favorite books, Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance. Also includes dog treats because it’s in Del Ray, land of dogs and children

This little free library is located at 224 N. Ridgewood Place in Los Angeles 90004.
Although it does have some collected works of Gore Vidal, in general this LFL could use more books of all genres.
It did include a 2016 yearbook from some private elementary school. Not sure who would want that.January 4, 2022 at 4:46 am #1115507bikedavid
ParticipantThis little free library is located at 1936 New Hampshire Ave NW, between U and T St, looking quite picturesque with the snow on top.

ParticipantCold and the wind can be wicked, but no snow. I’m not missing my bar mits or my Lake boots, but I am biking in long pants now vs. last week in shorts.

ParticipantHere’s the link to keep track of the leaderboard for #FSBOOKS. You should bookmark it as it doesn’t show on the drop down menu.

This library was fully stocked with a good variety of both children and adult books, so I liberated a book by Miss Manners, because in this day and age, I’ve discovered that MANY people need to learn a few more manners.
I’d think you would leave “Miss Manners” with a “PICK ME!!!” sticker on it!

Spotted at the Mechanicstown Square Park in Thurmont. Mechanicstown no longer exists (it is now Thurmont), but they have a tiny little park at the intersection of Rt. 77 and Rt. 550. I was here before for the Civil War Game.
They even had a Hardy Boys mystery! I remember reading those and Nancy Drew back when I was younger and read.

That’s why I was there! For once, the areas north and west got nothing.

ParticipantFinally! I found a Little Free Library here! My mom remembered it being “near the church on a street that starts with K”. I rode up and down Kilkenny, and Killarney, and finally found it on “Cork” … same sound anyway. It even had a little solar panel on the other side to light the inside. It had two shelves. The top one held a bunch of kids books lying on their sides.
And argh – I’m remembering about the pain in the butt posting a photo in the forum can be. From now on, only vertical photos. Sigh.

Alexandria, VirginiaThis LFL is focused on adult titles. For those needing sustenance, there are several cans of vegetables available. Definitely could use children’s books.

ParticipantLFL on Leehigh Court in Fairfax. There were only a few children’s books in the library. Definitely could use a few more books, but especially adult books.
