    2/2/2022 – LFL

LFL at Lyon Park on the FILLMORE Street side (yes, this little park has TWO Little Free Libraries).
    Arlington, VA.

This little free library, unlike it’s counterpart on the opposite side of the park, had more adult books. But I fixed that, and put in a copy of “No Dogs Allowed” – suitable for elementary school students.

LFL at the Jefferson Senior Living Home in Arlington
9th and Taylor streets. Mostly adult books which makes sense, but needs kid books. What else will the residents have to read to grandchildren?47f78a6c236137c73d8eee74378d3043.jpg

2/22/22 favorite free library so far! Not an LFL but shaped like a MUSHROOM complete with stained glass windows and firefly lights and books for all ages. Corner of Washington Blvd and N Evergreen St. (Really resent the development there that killed so many trees but this library is a sweet outcome). I took three pics to share the fun details.2dfb3a842e69415c12cf9adcea08633e.jpg

This LFL is not chartered evidently. It didn’t have an LFL plaque with a charter number, and doesn’t appear on the LFL website’s map. It’s located at Fox Mill Swim & Tennis Club on Viking Dr in Herndon. There were absolutely no children’s books so I left Mercer Meyer’s “Just for You.”

This one has The Art of the Deal and How to Talk to Women (tips for the pick up artist). It could use some nice socialist and feminist literature. (I ran into the proprietor and she said it will soon have Obama’s book, which is at least a start.)

It has a feature I’ve never seen before, a dog hook so you can tie up your dog while browsing. She says it also used to have a light, but someone stole it. Sigh!

This charming library has a wonderful collection of kids books. Some looked brand new.
Also a handful of adult books and some flash cards. Inside lights illuminate the selections. 0840a4bd5fe3d708f0daa6a4ef0e5f02.jpg

    2/3/22 Pebble Hills Middle School

Kids were out of school today due to snow and ice this morning so I felt okay going on school property for a photo. It was full of great selections for students with various reading tastes and abilities.

Such a cute paint job and a living green roof!
Didn’t want to open it in the rain, but will try to add a children’s book next time because it looked pretty full with adult selections.

LFL is located on Fox Lake Drive in Fairfax. There are no children’s books in this LFL although there are likely children in the neighborhood given the book, “Positive Discipline for Teenagers” so it could definitely use some books for the younger ages.

LFL located on KRKR JAK Circle, in the apartment Complex off of Route 50 and N. Bryan Street in Arlington, VA

This was a pretty messy LFL, and I didn’t feel like organizing it, but I did leave a copy of a Beatrix Potter book for kids.

2/3/22 LFL happened upon on Delaware St in front of Jamestown ES. It had a random collection: adult puzzle books, adult lit, and a few you g children’s books.4edfd8c940a4c1bfed79790077bd4c7a.jpg

This LFL had adult books on the upper level, and mostly children’s books on the lower level. I deposited Mercer Meyer’s “What a Bad Dream” and borrowed “The Snow Child” by Eowyn Ivey, a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
