Participant#FSbooks-LFL 4920 N 18th St. this game is really fun. It’s pretty easy in Arlington because they are everywhere. Just landed in Salt Lake so hope I can find some out here (and a fat tire bike to rent).
This library had an interesting selection with a book on Buddhism. Seem to find a lot of religion books in LFLs. Didn’t expect that when the game started.

ParticipantOkay, this may not even count, because Tapatalk has been misbehaving and not letting me post since just before midnight when I started trying. Plus, there is no way to get my bike into the photo. Let me know, and I’ll untag the ride.
The problem is, the library is described as being at the entrance to the Pence Law Library at American University. But it is not at the entrance to the building; it is at the entrance from the building into the library. (Doesn’t it violate the spirit of the thing to have a Little Free Library where the public can’t access it?) So all I could do is take a picture of it through a window, and there was no way to get my bike into that shot.
The proprietor indicates that they want light fiction, for law students tired of reading nothing but case law. So if you can actually get in, that’s what you should donate.

Several of the LFL’s here are behind locked doors or fences. I agree, it completely violates the spirit of the L FREE L. But, there it is.
Of course it counts. You do good work.

The nicest, cleanest and orderly LFL with the cutest door knobs. Adult theme books with subjects on cooking, the mind, the brain and mindfulness. I grabbed the book on Mastering Mindfulness by Kim Davies and donated “Passenger on The Pearl” by Winifred Conkling. LFL is located at 1524 Oklahoma Ave NE. #FSBOOKS

A brand new LFL on Farm House Lane in Fairfax. It didn’t have any books when Red found it earlier in the week so he deposited some books in it on his last visit. I brought 5 books today. I had asked my husband for some books and did not pay any attention to the titles when I put it in my backpack, so I chuckled when I took one of the books out of the bag. Check out the title of the book I’m holding, “The Frozen Hours” by Jeff Schaara. It is a book about the Korean War, but the title was very appropriate for today (temp of 17 but feels like 5). The only thing my father would ever say about the Korean War was that it was bitterly cold.

Yay for you and for Red and for Ed! Extra points all around (although Ed’s are ethereal). My dad wasn’t in the Korean War, but stationed there afterwards and said the same thing. Once when he was visiting he went to see the Korean War memorial and it was a foggy morning. He said it was eerie, seeing those weary soldiers coming back through the fog, just like he remembered.
Thank you for being such a great player!

Extra points for getting a kid out to ride in this kind of cold AND then she found a great book that feeds her passion. LOVE kid cyclists!

Karma, right? Just happened to be the book I put into my pannier today and it was perfect for this LFL.
Sadly the author passed yesterday. May he rest in peace after nearly a century of helping heal our crazy world and the way many choose to live in it.

Yes, I know, I was sooo sad to learn that our troubled world had lost this peaceful inspirational soul. Rest in peace, Thich Nhat Hanh.

I didn’t get a chance to check the LFL map before I rode this morning, but remembered this one from the last time I was in Orlando. I have to say this is one of my very favorite LFLs — love the way it’s painted, love the adjacent sign, love the door handle, and love the extensive and varied selection of children’s books. They range from beginning readers, both fiction and non-fiction, to books suitable for kids around 10-12 years old. There are a few non-children’s books including one on gardening with native plants in FL, and one describing 60 ways to get rid of, and prevent headaches! Check out the adjacent sign about the owner’s dog and cat. More photos in my Strava feed in case anyone is interested.January 23, 2022 at 12:18 am #1117472cvcalhoun
Participant11104 Stillwater Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895. The proprietor says, “I hope this brings with it the joy of reading to young and old alike.” However, the only book for the young was a children’s dictionary. It could use more children’s books.

I’m sensing a theme with all these LFL’s that NEED children’s books. Perhaps time to send out an “ask” for outgrown children’s books to be left on people’s curbs for you to redistribute?

Little Free Library on Monroe St NE between 20th and South Dakota. Interesting mix of of books and cool latch made from a stick or maybe a wizard’s wand… I added Dune. Didn’t get my daughter’s bike in the photo because she saw one of her favorite neighborhood dogs playing in the nearby field and wanted to play, but she was on the ride!
