ParticipantLFL – 1/17/2022
815 S. Irving Street. I love the porthole window!
This LFL had a good selection of adult and kids books, and even some magazines, but there was only one shelf, and books were jammed in there with a whole segment before the first segment, making it hard to go through. Although I would have taken the time if it had been warmer.

ParticipantWhat’s sadder than an empty LFL? An empty LFL locked behind fencing on days the school is closed. I think they’ve missed the point . . .

The snow had just stared falling when I went out – hadn’t started sticking yet. But here is a close-up of the LFL, and you can see the few snowflakes on the roof.

So was this yesterday or today? (I ask because the forum datestamps “yesterday” or “today” and I often can’t tell which day belongs to which date, especially since I’m in a different time zone right now.) So confusing …

The owner of this Little Free Library on Quincy and 13th St NE DC is so nice, she once came out and asked my daughter what kind of books she liked. She said “hold on,” and went back into her house and pulled a couple hardbacks off her bookshelf to bring out! They library specializes in kids books and is well-stocked and maintained.

ParticipantThis one, at 4400 Fessenden Street, had a little of everything: a Little Free Library, the Little Gallery on Fessenden Street (see littlegallery.org for current exhibits), and a sign saying it is a Goods for Good ally drop-off place. And it also had a sculpture in the front yard made of three bicycle wheels, although I wasn’t able to get that into this photo.
The proprietor says that it was made from an old medicine cabinet. They also say they “focus more on kids’ books, since there are several young children on the block.” However, I didn’t see a single kid’s book there, so that’s what they need.

ParticipantThis LFL can be found at the corner of Forest Avenue and Orchard Drive in Fairfax. It actually had a wide selection of adult books that filled the case. I’m not ready for a new book yet but this would be a good library to remember.

I took the photo yesterday, Sunday, January 16th, in the afternoon just as the snow was starting, but I didn’t post it until hours later. I did, however, just go back today and update the post with yesterday’s date on it, so it would be less confusing, and i will now make sure I add the date each time I post a photo if that makes it easier for you. It is also posted for that day in the Strava too.
