Participant1/16/22 LFL 5226 N 36th St. amazing little library considering it’s near an elementary school. Kids picture books, board books, real literature, and some trashy fiction

LFL at the Lyon Village Community Center at 1901 Highland in Arlington.
Cute LFL. Beautifully decorated and sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 3662.
I am guessing this is a well used LFL since only 5 books remained. This LFL needs books!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Long: -77.13847This one was quite ornate: A main part with two stories (the upper one being where that round porthole is) with adult books, and an annex on the left side with kids’ books (and a chimney on top). It could use more kids’ books, though–that section was considerably less full than the adult section.
That LFL is gorgeous!! I want to live there!!

What a great idea. And if you do it, those who participate in the ride and donate (a) book(s) will get extra points. Just post a photo so I know to give extra points!
I love this idea!!

ParticipantThis is the best little library I seen so far. It’s just off of Quander Road in Alexandria, and is a fairly well detailed scale model of the house. The library even has a solar panel that powers a light in its attic. Very cool.

ParticipantLFL on Tedrich Blvd in Fairfax. Tripped over this LFL after taking a wormhole using Daniel Run Trail. If you want some books by Danielle Steel, this is the library for you.

There’s a lovely bench directly in front of this LFL which is on a quiet tree-lined street. On a day that was a bit warmer than 14°F, it’d be a very pleasant place to stop for a rest and a read. There were no children’s books so I deposited “Babar’s Travels” by Jean De Bruhoff and borrowed “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.”

The snow had just stared falling when I went out – hadn’t started sticking yet. But here is a close-up of the LFL, and you can see the few snowflakes on the roof.

This little library is well maintained and stocked with a variety of books. Special treat today, meeting the daughter of the woman who maintains and charters “Sally’s Little Free Library”. As I was depositing “Timothy Goes to School” by Rosemary Wells, a woman who’d been walking on the street approached me, introduced herself as Karen Carter and thanked me for leaving a book. I explained what I was doing and all about Freezing Saddles, and she was very interested because her husband is an avid cyclist. They live in Spain a little south of Valencia (she was home visiting her mom), and it just so happens that I’m leading a bike tour this fall from Burgos to Valencia for a cycling club I belong to. At any rate, back to the LFL, it was built for her mom by a neighbor and good friend who’s an accomplished woodworker. The gabled roof of the LFL is cedar, the door is plexiglass (for safety), it has hook-and-eye latches to keep the door shut, and it’s painted to match the residence.January 17, 2022 at 10:27 pm #1116957Serdar
