It would be an honor & privilege to help curate an #ImHer with you, and include a stop at an ethnic restaurant (or two!

This temple reminded me of my Grandmother, Bessie McGregor, who was a Scottish immigrant to the USA [emoji631] in the 1890s.Freemasonry (or Masonry) is the oldest fraternal organization in the world, though its exact origins remain lost in time. The order is thought to have arisen from the English and Scottish guilds of practicing stonemasons and cathedral builders in the Middle Ages. Certain Masonic documents actually trace the sciences of geometry and masonry to the time of ancient Egypt and the building of King Solomon’s Temple. Freemasonry, however, remains a vital force in the daily lives of millions of men across the globe.
It is the mission of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, SJ, to improve its members and enhance the communities in which they live by teaching and emulating the principles of Brotherly Love, Tolerance, Charity, and Truth, while actively embracing high social, moral, and spiritual values, including fellowship, compassion, and dedication to God, family, and country.
The tradition of “Scotts” (or Scottish) Masonry is the second oldest type of high degree Masonry known, even surpassing the antiquity of the Royal Arch Degree. It refers to a type of Masonry practiced, rather than referring to native Scotsmen (like Grandma Bessie;).
Fourteen of America’s Founding Fathers (around 31%) are known to have been Freemasons, beginning with the nation’s first president, George Washington, and most recently the 38th president, Gerald R. Ford.

[emoji177][emoji3063][emoji2189]My pleasure, Nadine. Fun fact – Last year, when we were passing this place with David Pomeroy while doing his GPS art ride (in the frames of BAFS2021), he told me he had met President Bush there years ago.

Here is a list of your findings for my possible group ride in Fairfax. Many thanks!
Serdar, interesting concept. Because of some of the major roads in this area, this area is not the easiest to get around, but I’ll give some thought to a potential ride in this area. One place I am really looking forward to checking out is a bakery/grocery store featuring products from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, and Russia. From reading the reviews, it sounds like a fantastic place and would make for an interesting “field trip” in the area.

Cool photo! Your red and yellow jackets match the colors on the restaurant sign.

ParticipantThis bus is usually parked on Glade Dr. in Reston. It belongs to a Spanish evangelical church congregation that holds services in nearby Hunters Woods Plaza.

ParticipantWay too easy to do in NYC, but a question, would you count those from Puerto Rico as “immigrants” since they mostly came here as US citizens?

Only if they migrated before the 1898 Treaty of Paris ending the Spanish – American War, after which they were deemed constitutional citizens. In 1917, their US citizenship became statutory under the Jones–Shafroth Act.
