Mazadar Restaurant in Lee Plaza in Fairfax serves Mediterranean cuisines from Afghanistan, Iran and India. The food is very good. We’ve met the owner who comes around to check on you at your table.

Indian restaurant in my ‘hood. They serve a wide variety of foods and are known especially for their Hyderabadi haleem.

Where else would Americans get dinner “carry out” on holidays, especially Christmas [emoji319]?!!!!

Today’s photo hunt theme is “cone,” so I decided to make it a two-fer and stop by one of my favorite local gelato shops, Casa Rosada. The owners are from Argentina and serve Argentinian-style gelato. They’re also super-nice and now recognize me whenever I stop by (which is often). The store is closed for the winter, but I’ll be back after they reopen in March. I read about this restaurant in my “Nextdoor” feed this morning. Since I was going to be in that area today, I figured I would check them out. They serve chicken with Latin American or Mediterranean seasonings. It has a lot of good reviews. I’ll have to check this out for dinner some time. It is located in the Turnpike Shopping Center on Pickett Road in Fairfax.

Kalye Manila is a family-owned and run Filipino grocery store that also provides shipping services to the Philippines and low cost calling packages and money transfers. They’re located at 626 Grant St in Herndon.

Wow! I will make sure to try their gelato (and support their business!) this coming March.

Oh, I know. Chinese restaurants are one of the few places open on Christmas.
