Please, enjoy photos from the Immigrants Heritage Ride in Fairfax!

Thank you so much, Cathy and Serdar, for this really fun and interesting ride today! Nice to meet some more FS people live, in person, on bike, rather than just connecting via Strava and the BAFS forum.

Restaurant El Salvador located on Columbia Pike in Arlington next where the W&OD crosses. I couldn’t find any information online about the owners or origin of the business, but the menu is totally in Spanish, as is their website. Note “Asian Grocery Mart” and “Mercado Latino” right next door!

This is the Azerbaijani Pomegranate wine I bought at Baku Delicious. After both Serdar and a customer recommended it, I had to have a bottle.

    Nicely framed photo!

I enjoyed this wine today while watching Olympic ice skating. The Russian girl crashed it!

The Halal Guys was launched by three Egyptians in 1990 in NYC as the first Halal food cart in the US. That food cart grew into a franchise business and has been named the #1 Most Yelped eatery in NYC and #3 in the US. This is a photo of the Ashburn location.

    Pinto Thai in Culpeper, VA

My riding partner, Laura, went inside and told them about the scavenger hunt. The women told her that is a family-owned restaurant and that the owner is from Thailand. The family settled in Culpeper, like the town and started this restaurant.

Souvlaki Bar takes pride in serving high-quality Greek specialties and authentic dishes (e.g., Souvlaki, roasted Greek chicken, Spanakopita, Pastichio, and Greek lentil soup) with recipes passed down from the owners’ ancestors. This is their Oakton location, one of four.

Must be good. Boomer and I like Kabob Palace in Crystal City, Arlington. That place is run by Afghans and their bread reminds home to me. Afghanistan neighbors with Turkmenistan.

Arigato Sushi is a small Japanese restaurant and sushi bar in Fairfax. It has been here since 1996 and is owned by Ryong Park. It has a lot of great reviews with a lot of comments about the freshness of the seafood.

I just checked out their menu. I will have to make a point of trying this restaurant. They are only about 4 miles from my home. Thanks for the info!
