ParticipantThis could be a nice build, steel frame

ParticipantIt is a cool frame…but he’s over selling it “just a tad” 😎 … SL is in no way a “faster” frameset than SLX or TSX…
I’d also stay away from a frameset that doesn’t have a stabilizer to help stiffen up the bottom bracket if the intention is to build up as a road bike as these can feel a little soggy. Though, this is a pretty small frame, so the person might not be too heavy, and it might not be an issue. If using for commuting; not an issue.
Just 2-cents.

Participantbackcountry has various Mavic shoe covers on sale in most sizes, 50% off.
I got some of the H20 ones, $30. The XL fit my 44 commuter shoes, L fit my 43 MTB shoes. You will probably want shoes that close with a heel ratchet if you want a tighter fit or plan on moving these on/off the shoe frequently.

ParticipantI don’t see why the rear hub spacing wouldn’t be 120 (or 126 maybe) mm rather than 132.5 as stated in the ad.

I thought the same thing. I have a similar Raleigh frame (but with Reynolds 502) from ’84 and it’s 120 mm.

hey VVill, check this out
Pretty. Please keep your eyes open for a smaller (i.e. 53ish), similar vintage frame. I’d love to build up something like that!

ParticipantNice. What kind of dropouts are those? “Semi-horizontal”?
Surprised with the 132.5mm rear spacing – would’ve assumed 120 too. Sounds like they got that off a Soma catalogue or something. Maybe it’s been “cold set” or something.
56 top tube may be doable, but with a 58cm seat tube I suspect standover could be a challenge.

Whoa! I just discovered that Twin Six jerseys have secret messages in the pockets!
Just checked my Twin Six jersey and all the secret message says is “Fly like a bird”. Boring!

Yep – semi-horizontal looks correct from what I see. Same as on my Schwinn. Also, the spacing could well be 120 – that’s the case for the Schwinn too. I had a pair of Mavic CXP-22’s built with 120mm Formula FG/SS hubs from bicyclewheels.com back when I converted it.
