They lack a model number, but judging from their description it’s the Winter HS 396 (as opposed to the Marathon or Ice Spiker models).

Hm, no, that’s not it. I’m really not sure what Schwalbe tire it is. Any guesses? The Marathon Winters are going for $76 a pair.

It says it’s the “snow stud”. That’s the HS 264 according to Amazon ($57). Maybe discontinued or sold out on the Schwalbe page

Interesting. I tried this a month ago when the tires first went on sale but I couldn’t get shipping to go below 55 pounds, so I skipped it.
The key seems to be to ONLY order the tyres/tires/t1r35. I just ordered and the shipping was $16. I tried adding tubes and shipping went up to $65.

If you select a size and width, it jumps up significantly (up to 25 gbp for 700c).

Baw, my bad. Still, compared to Amazon… http://www.amazon.com/Schwalbe-Marathon-Studded-Mountain-Bicycle/dp/B003TNOZV0

ParticipantWhoa. It seems the way to do this is order each tyre separately. Shipping on one is $17. Shipping on two is $66.

And then they have these for much less.
Schwalbe Snow Stud Wired Tyre: $58 for both w/ shipping. Done.

ParticipantMany places do free shipping (both within the USA and from overseas) for a certain amount of $, usually between $50 (competitivecyclist) and $125 (treefortbikes). I bet a group buy could be organized if there’s enough interested parties. Of the overseas places I’ve bought from I think probikekit is $79 and chainreaction $99.

ParticipantAnd hopefully the bike shop owners on the list are asking their distributors about the price fixing which keeps the products so much more expensive in the US that it’s cheaper for the consumer to air freight them from Europe.

Welp, now they want to charge me an additional £29.17 in shipping and say that it was an error at checkout. I don’t even know how much $$ that is!! I’m guessing it’s about $320. Oh well. Will wait on the studded tyres.

Yep, I just got an email:
“There was an error at checkout which listed the delivery charge.
We would therefore need to take a payment for the balance of £29.17 in order to dispatch the order for you.”
That’s another $44.30 for shipping. Cancelling the order

ParticipantIn the USA, Dismal Scientist (the FTC) would have prevented that. What they represent is what they must provide. No double-take-backs.
January 15, 2015 at 4:36 pm #1020473mstone
ParticipantFWIW, wiggle hasn’t done that to me, and has free international shipping for orders over about $80.
January 15, 2015 at 5:08 pm #1020475vvill
ParticipantFWIW chainreactioncycles (out of Belfast) carries those same HS 264 700x38c studded tires, $40 ea. with free shipping at $99
I think I paid a little over $100 for my new studded tires in 2011 from treefortbikes, so it’s not a bad deal (although I did buy tires with more studs).
