For that level of components a high-tensile frame is disappointing. It probably is a brick. Looks great though.

ParticipantOMG! I can’t belie..wait a second,,,,never mind. Humph

The pathetic thing is, after getting all excited and seconds away from emailing the guy, I remembered I have one of these hanging on my garage wall. And if his experience is anything like mine was when I listed it on Craigslist, he will get 400 quick emails before the google latency period. Still a cool looking bike, in good condition and a decent price. It is too bad the frame doesn’t still have Eddie’s mug shot sticker on the head .January 12, 2013 at 3:36 pm #959794dcv

What’s wrong with this? It’s not jumping out at me immediately.

Still, with that component group — belt drive, alfine IGH, tektro discs (not the fanciest but probably solid) this is not a bad candidate for a frame-swap. Slap the parts on a Surly and sell the brand-new civilian frameset for $100 (okay, maybe $50) on CL.

Thought it was a Merckx but it’s a Falcon

ParticipantAs stated above, it was a British Falcon that had cool Eddie Merckx decals on it. The seller is not trying to deceive anybody, but when people see “Eddie Merckx for $150” the salivation begins and frantic emailing commences.

There are standard Surly frames that can take a belt drive?

Not unless that’s a new thing for 2013… none of the Surly frames have split drops. Though, I’ve seen some custom done to accommodate a gates carbon belt drive… I don’t know why any niche steel manufacturer would build a frame without a split drop, but that’s just me.

That’s just when the new models come out–if you can wait an extra month or two, your LBS may be willing to go even cheaper. I’ve bought 3 bikes over the past 3 years, one in October and two in November!

Whoops, yeah forgot about the need for that. Move along, nothing to see here!
Edit: S&S is making very small couplers now for stays, but at that point you’re getting kind of pricey for a low-budget belt-drive build.
