Bike art at Target (Falls Church)
Is that the Target on Rt 50? If so, next time, you should take a picture of the world’s worst placed bike rack. It is a narrow, two bike rack, that is placed approximately 6 inches from the wall, and is intended for bikes to be perpendicular to the wall. It’s unthinkably bad IMO.

ParticipantNashbar has 15% off lights today, just in time for your nightly fall commute. Discounts are taken in your cart.
I think I’ll get the Light and Motion Urban 550 light. Based on the “how bright is that light” website someone on here shared once, it seems like the best light for my ~$100 budget. If you think I have a better option though, let me know!

ParticipantFor $100 you could buy five of these.

I get close to 90 minutes of run time out of the battery running on high.
I have one as my primary “see where I’m going at night” light, paired with a lens to fan the light out horizontally. Hard to make a clear comparison, but I’d say that my headlight puts out as much light as I see in the picture to the L&MU 550 on the linked site.

The bontrager 700 is a better value at a 100 bucks. I am sure a trek dealer isn’t far from you. You can also check out the cree lights on amazon. They are much cheaper but the battery is external.
For a 100 you could have 3 cree lights.sent from your mom’s house

Ohh thanks. The bontrager light may be better. I just don’t like that it lacks a helmet mount
. I switch back and forth between the road bike and hybrid depending on road conditions, so switching the light every few days may become a pain.

ParticipantAnd fiance just chimed in to an email I sent and said to get this one: Cygolite Expilion 800 USB Bicycle Headlight, on amazon for $99. And it has a helmet mount. Looks like out of the bontrager, light and motion, and cygolite, the cygolite has the best reviews and highest lumens rating for my price range.

While on lights, Exposure Joystick at a slightly less preposterous price: http://www.amazon.com/Exposure-Joystick-Light-Helmet-Mount/dp/B0099NCW8C/ref=sr_1_3?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1412354325&sr=1-3&keywords=exposure+joystick
(I procured one, and I’m JUST ITCHING to burn some retinas)

I was just looking at that this AM from wiggle: http://www.wiggle.com/exposure-joystick-mk8-with-handlebar-and-helmet-mount/ (same ballpark price, but a few $ cheaper w/ free shipping).
Instead I ordered a helmet mount for my minidrive XL light. I don’t think I need 400L to supplement my handlebar light, even in the woods. For my next light, I’ll consider it, though.

I am loving my Power Drive XL. I have a Mini Drive XL as well. The battery life of both of these isn’t quite what Lezyne claims but they are still great lights and I dig the replaceable batteries. I keep a Nitecore charger at the office and one at home. 18650’s and 123’s are cheap online. You have to make sure you get the “protected” ones.

Is there some restriction on this? I tried to buy a pair and it wouldn’t take the code.
