It also now notes that the Pista is a 51.

With the bullhorns on there it’s probably a good fit at 5’9″. Those bars will stretch you out.

Sounds like with the right marketing pitch, you could flip it right here on the forum if you find something else later in the year you’d rather have!

Oh, like any of us are interested in helping vvill get ANOTHER bike.

How about I’ll buy this now, and you buy the next 61cm chrome pista you see, and then we’ll trade.

How about you buy this now, we come up with a plausible “americancyclo gave me this bike because it’s too small for him” cover story, and I pay you in small weekly installments over the next, say, 20 weeks? Win-Win!

Are you saying that you’re just now getting around to hiding $10 a week from your wife for a bicycle fund?

Heh. I once built a $3000.00 mountain bike by stockpiling components in my shed one by one over the space of about six months.

This was my plan for my current fixie project, but she noticed the frame after only a few weeks.

So lets say, hypothetically, that I’m going to look at this fixie. What should I look out for? And should I try riding it when I’ve never been on a fixie before, or will I embarrass myself and break something?

Update: checked it out but didn’t pull the trigger. Felt too small, though I could see that some riders my size might be comfortable with it. And the frame seemed to have a lot of surface scratches. It would have been better to see it in daylight to be sure.

Rims were red Weinmann deep Vs. Hubs looked like Formula cartridge bearings, though not positive. front brake was a Tektro, mushy and needed adjustment. Sakae crank.

So, it’s still available. Oh, and I took my first, brief, fixie ride.

    For the iPhone crowd:

Wahoo Fitness Blue SC Cycling Computer Speed & Cadence Sensor for iPod/iPhone $45.87
    http://www.amazon.com/Wahoo-Fitness-Cycling-Cadence-Sensor/dp/B007HOGNLW/ref=sr_1_1?t=slickdeals&tag=slickdeals&ascsubtag=0Ids_AVPEeOZJnrE6lFVEw0_umwf3_0_0_0&ie=UTF8&qid=1376516409&sr=8-1&keywords=Wahoo+blue+SC

Normally $59.99, this is the lowest price its ever been (according to the camel). Unlike the ANT+ sensors, this one work with the Iphone 4,4s, and 5 through bluetooth. All that’s needed to get it up and running as a cycling computer is a handlebar mount phone case.

Transform your iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S into a powerful cycling computer
Bluetooth Smart (4.0) technology wirelessly tracks tire rotation rate (bike speed), peddle rotation rate (cadence) and lifetime mileage of your bike on your iPhone 5, 4S, iPod Touch (5th generation), iPad (3rd and 4th generations), and iPad Mini
Works with the most popular cycling Apps such as Cyclemeter, Strava Cycling, MapMyRide, Runtastic Road Bike, Wahoo Odometer (included), Wahoo Fitness (included), and more
Runs on a replaceable coin cell battery and requires no charging between rides for up to 1 year

I think you should test ride, just use the brakes.

Oooh a nice vintage Japanese steel touring bike. My size. Untouched. Granny gear.

    But not in the cards.
