Seriously.
The Capitol Police still have some of those in our parking garage. Word is though that they are switching over to Trek and/or Specialized, so you might see more of these on the market soon. The one by us has SRAM X-9 der and Avid BB7 disc brakes. Apologies for the blurriness

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/bik/3901170426.htmlThat’s a great deal! I’d say it is closer to a C52CM size which would give it an effective ST size of about 52/53cm.
I have a Paddy Wagon listed going for $450 but it has barely been used:

2006 Specialized Allez currently at $305 (I just bid on it
and I am thinking about getting it and then picking up the parts to build the rest of it. I am very new to this though, so I thought I’d get some advice concerning total cost. You guys were supportive in suggesting resources to look for a stolen bike of mine, so I thought I’d turn here again!
The bike MSRP’d for $1700 in 2006, so at first glance this is a steal; no matter what bike I get though, my budget is no more than $600-700 total.
Here’s what it would need, and my assumption of what average prices are (I don’t need anything fancy; it’s just for exercise).
-Bike frame (with shipping; depends if the price bids up much more) ($375)
THEN:
-Wheels ($125)
-Inner tubes ($30)
-Shifter cables ($40)
-Chain ($35)
-Saddle ($30)All total, about $600-700
SO..
1.) Does this seem like a realistic estimate?
2.) Is the bike worth it? Existing parts seem to be in good order and it’s a great frame.THANKS!

AlexAuction is showing as SOLD for $355 which does seem like a pretty good deal to me. Did you win it?
If so, let me adjust your totals slightly:
Inner tubes: $8-10 – Hit Performance during a sale and you can get them for $3.99 or so. No need to get fancy shmancy tubes.
Saddle: $60ish – Don’t skimp on saddles and buy new. Personally I like the Specialized saddles; I ride w/ a Toupe and I think the most economical I would recommend would be the Avatar.July 1, 2013 at 6:58 pm #97439683b

Not really. Those Rolfs, while good wheels, aren’t exactly cutting edge now. The drivetrain & shifters appears to be a few years old as well. If all the components were NOS then this would be a great deal, but that’s unlikely. Besides, I’ve bought and sold with Duane (the seller) in Tysons before; he wouldn’t let something go for too little. On the contrary; since he’s a flipper it is probably priced on the high side. I didn’t recognize it as his ad immediately because it looks like he recently discovered where the CAPS LOCK button is

Apparently flippers economize through lack of punctuation and grammar. Indecipherable.

Thanks for your thoughts! I’m generally looking for a good deal on a 60-62cm Ti or steel road frame, and many of the frames I’ve seen have been in the ballpark of that complete bike. The build definitely underwhelms. I’ll keep looking

Just keep in mind, with that build you’re basically buying just the frameset, unless you’re content to stick with the components it already has. But more than likely they’ll need updating soon and it’s not like they’re going to fetch a significant amount on CL. You could shoot Duane the flipper an offer for just the frameset, couldn’t hurt.

I DID! And thanks so much for the tips; I am getting a new saddle from someone for $15 tomorrow and will make sure to do a lot of research with other components like the wheels & tubes before getting anything I don’t actually need. I’ll keep an eye on performance bikes, too.

Participant61cm Soma Smoothie, $650. This was on CL several weeks ago for $600. This guy bought it and has been trying to flip it ever since, starting at “make me an offer,” then $800, and then steadily decreasing every few days.

This would be a good size for me, but it’s still way too much for a dinged up bike with mismatched and road rashed components (and an upcharge for a wheel with a broken spoke!)
I’d give him $250 for this. maybe.
