Glad to see the front is mostly white. I like the sharrow design too.

Passing this along from my shimano deal alert:

Shimano Ultegra Groupset $724 shipped, DI2 $1324 shipped (from UK)

Some really great prices from UK-based Merlin Cycles for the Shimano Ultegra 6700 10-speed groupset
    http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-…ilver.html
and the hot new Ultegra DI-2 electronic shifting system
    http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-…upset.html

Both meet the threshold for free shipping! (USD$230)

I have a spare Ultegra wheelset just gathering dust… this is a troubling development. For my wife.

Although older, this is a pretty good deal for a very light proven carbon frame, not to mention some nifty wheels

    Nifty in the explosive sense?

Rev X’s are pretty common, and have decent reviews. Have you personally had issues with them?

No, I’m not that brave. :D http://fixedgearbikes.blogspot.com/2009/02/spinergy-rev-x-goes-for-broke.html Some people have ridden them for a long time without problem, but sometimes they just break, and when they break they break in a spectacular fashion. Everyone has their own risk tolerance level, but for me, the chance that my front wheel could disappear at speed isn’t worth a couple percent performance. Note that I’m also not real small, and “how durable is this part” is always a consideration when I’m buying stuff for my bike.

Take the manufacturer’s advice very seriously: http://www.spinergy.com/catalog/tech/tech_v2.php Remember that they’re carbon wheels with a catastrophic failure mode that doesn’t necessarily show obvious signs prior to failure, and that the wheels are at least 14 years old. Then make an informed decision.

$350 for a K2 hybrid with carbon fork. A good deal or not?

Meh. Bikesdirect sells something similar called a Motobecane Cafe Sprint for $600 and $700 for a disc version. The former went on sale in January down to $400. I bought one for the wife at the December price of $450.

The internet suggests that the bike is from the mid 2000s.

The Performance in Fairfax Circle has 2012 Fuji cross bikes with 105 shifters and FD and Ultegra RD for $899. The frame has no fender or rack bosses in the back, though.

    I would except I need a rack. To carry the beer. It’s cross, see . . .
