Lake Accotink park, under the CSX/VRE Rail line.

    Nice photo.

Close — Reston. Part of the Fannie Mae campus.

Just some cool pix I thought I’d share from a trail I probably should not have gone down on a road bike! It started off single-track, then turned in to old pavement, so I thought I’d be OK. It got worse :) I couldn’t bring myself to turn around until I found a locked gate and had no choice.

Ride by there 4 days a week. My commute goes right by there.

Aha! I know this one! The new salmon/other fish swimming on the bike lanes by the new skateboard park on the newly redone NW Branch Trail right by Route 1 (near Franklin’s, not that I have a drinking problem).

Yikes, I hope the paint they used isn’t slippery.

I’m not entirely sure they’re actually paint. They’re very thick, and seem to be stuck on rather than painted on, but I don’t really know for sure. They do, however, seem slick. I try to avoid them, I’m kind of neurotic like that when it comes to painted asphalt.

Here’s a close up of the swimmers on the path, they almost look ironed on.

Most road markings these days are some kind of plastic or thermoplastic. Paint is only for temporary or real low-budget work.

I just thought it was really cool that I had stopped to take a pic of the sunrise and the fog on the trail ahead, only to catch this commuter coming out of the fog like something in a movie. I should’ve snapped one more close up, but was already about to pee my pants. The Fog scared me when I was a kid.
