That looks like Ohio Drive or Hains Point across the river to me…
Yep, MVT looking east from a few hundred yards south of the Memorial Bridge. Hard to tell, but a number of the geese in the picture were actually mooning the camera…

East side of Lake Artemesia, looking towards the Green Line. I photographed my turtle avatar just over the wooden bridge to the east.
In a similar vein, how about this one:

Nope – that’s a cement deck. It is on the Anacostia Tributary Trail system, though.

I admit this one is pretty tough so I’ll give a few more clues. It’s near a church and if this bike symbol was just a few symbols to the east, he would have lost a lot more than just his helmet!

Hah… I found it, or at least another helmetless bike symbol. Westbound Fairfax Drive right before Wakefield. I think it’s trying to tell us that we should take off our helmets so we can truly experience the transition of death onto the Fairfax-Custis connector.

My bad. All the bike stencils on the bike lanes on Fairfax west of Glebe are a different design: fat head and no helmet.
However, commuting in with the standard Thursday morning hangover at 5 mph, my nose barely off the pavement, I did find the correct answer. Eastbound Fairfax at Oakland!

You got it! Right by San Jose Episcopal Church, and just a few blocks up there is another symbol whose head is completely gone, and the symbol only has half a rear wheel.

Why is she there?
I rode that way this morning and found out the secret. Now that I know it I don’t want to give it up. I’ll give a hint: her name is Ingrid.

Dirt, love this bike. Where did you find the pink hood covers?
SRAM makes them for their double-tap levers. They come in a kit with matching bar tape. The bar tape is some of the best I’ve used. Any SRAM dealer can easily get this for you.
Thanks! I’m not supposed to have favorite children… but this one is definitely it…. though this week’s build will be pretty high on my list of great bikes.
Rock on!

I think I posted a link to the answer a few days ago.
Isn’t it a cool story behind it? There’s tons of neat stuff in DC like that. Rock on!

ParticipantWhere am I? *Hint* It is a National Park inside the beltway. There are cows.

HERE is the answer. It is a cool place to visit. We saw some wild turkeys the size of Butterballs today. We also saw a herd of close to 50 deer, a nesting pair of hawks that were hunting and a bald eagle.

#2 is the Mt Vernon trail, just south of Roosevelt Island.
