More line stripping on the MVT today.

ParticipantThe north-side Arlington Blvd Trail is open through the 10th St / N Courthouse Road construction project. Here is a video starting at the Washington Blvd Trailhead in Penrose, going along onto the Arlington Blvd Trail all the way to Rosslyn. The new part of the trail starts around 1:25.

ON MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH! It’s like Christmas (ok, not really Christmas, but another holiday where you get things you like, though not your top priorities — Easter! It’s like Easter!). I realize that many of you don’t avoid hills because hills, but for anyone who does want to avoid the horribleness that is Rosslyn Hill with a lodaded cargo bike, or out of shape legs, or a bum knee or whatever, this is AMAZING!!! It allows a gentle slope connection between bottom-of-the-hill Rosslyn (and through that, DC, etc) and Clarendon and points west.
HOORAY! This could only be made better if you all say you’re going on the KIDICAL MASS ARLINGTON AND KIDICAL MASS ALEXANDRIA RIDE ON SUNDAY!!! 11am Eclipse Potomac Yard Arlington

Beware: riding the new section makes it starkly clear what abysmal condition the rest of it is in. Also, good luck fitting the Bakfiets through the bushes in front of the Days Inn, or past the bollard at the end of the Days Inn Parking Lot Access Road.

ParticipantI have no hyperlink, but they installed some bike parking at the bottom of 33rd rd at M in Georgetown. Two or three horseshoe types and then it looked half squares. I’ll try to remember to take a photo tomorrow.

ParticipantWhatever you’d like to call it – the “Country Club Connector”, “Hoffman-Boston Connector”, “Arlington View Emergency Access Road” or whatever…is finally in an adopted Capital Improvement Plan. It’s still years out, but at least it has a timeline now. For those unfamiliar, it would be an access for Emergency Vehicles and a bike/ped connection between the Arlington View Neighborhood on the East end of Columbia Pike to the Army Navy Country Club Access Road running beneath I-395 to the Arlington Ridge Neighborhood. Map here.

ParticipantMilling and repaving work is on-going on Hayes Street between 15th and Fern Street. Work is scheduled to be completed by Friday, in the meantime, expect delays and rough pavement.

ParticipantThe 4 metal bollards referenced above on the Arlington Blvd Trail between Washington Blvd & Pershing have all been removed courtesy of the hard working folks at Arlington Parks & Rec. Enjoy your significantly lower-hazard trail experience.

ParticipantI’m a little shocked at the new lanes on S Hayes Street. They are taking out parking spaces!!!!! 😮 It is gonna be so nice when it is done; hopefully the meters will be taken out soon and no parking signs will be put up.
