It’s mid week, so it’s time for our next Freezing Saddles Side Bet! For this challenge ” Find the Founding Fathers”, we will not be competing in teams, nor will there be any benefit to being in one state over another. FSSB #3 will be in the format of a photo meme, so get those cameras ready. To complete the tasks of FSSB #3, you will have to ride your bike to a place, any place that mentions, alludes to, honors, is named for, or could be perceived to represent one of President of the United States. Take a picture of your bike with that location and post it on the forum. The trick (there is always a trick) is that you have to post a photo of the presidential items in order from Washington to Obama. For example I have posted a photo of my bike at the “Washington Marina”. Once you post your photo write the name of the president in the text section. like this:

    WASHINGTON

    Feel free to be as obvious or as obscure as you like. I could have posted a photo of the Washington Monument, or even the Masonic Temple. Be creative. To be able to go on to the next president, at least 3 forum people have to “like” the post. Other rules, Washington was easy (the entire town is named for him) so I took it to start the process, once we get 3 likes we can move on to “John Adams” If you have a better photo and the current one doesn’t have 3 likes, then by all means make the steal. The White house or other POTUS site that is not specific to any one president will not work. There only needs to be one photo for each president, you don’t have to post your own list of presidents, just the next one in order. Multiple presidents in one photo are okay, but you only get credit for the next one. You have to have at least 1 bike in the picture. The picture has to be taken starting today. Also, the name in question doesn’t actually have to be “written” in the photo like “Washington” in Washington Marina was. Nicknames are also acceptable. Have fun and remember it’s all for fun. We are already winners!

    I went to, but didn’t take a picture at, James Monroe Park over my lunch break. I only know/think it’s called that b/c of Google Maps. There’s no mention of the man anywhere there. Pretty sad. At least a plaque would have been nice, if not a bust. Oh well…

    If you find yourself on the campus of GW. . .

    It’s ok, the Hay-Adams is not named for John Adams, and that didn’t stop any likes…

    That’s right. It was originally called the “Hey Adams!” and was meant as an homage to Dilbert creator Scott Adams.

    So the name doesn’t actually have to be in the picture, right? Anyone near 16th and Colorado?

    Looking ahead may take some planning. Who comes in from Ashburn? There is a street and a lake there honoring our 9th president, just off the W&OD. Apparently when you only serve 30 days in office, you don’t get your name plastered around town.

    I was going to go for the “Madam’s Organ” mural, but couldn’t get up there in time.

    This is another great challenge, though I’d love to see more than just business/streets signs.

    I thought of that too, though for John Quincy Adams.

    some are going to be easy – take the opportunity to be creative. Some are going to be very hard, get whatever you can.

    Yes, master. ;

    I had seen it on the map earlier in the day, but was hesitant. Your hint convinced me to go ahead and just do it anyway.

    Funny thing, everything on that campus is named for our number 5. He founded the joint.
    And now we wait for approval.

    Hey, it’s not easy finding a way to distinguish John Quincy Adams from John Adams!
