ParticipantThe Smithsonian Natural History Museum, the site of many school field trips! Has a great collection of all sorts of things to do with natural history including animals, minerals, early human civilization, and dinosaurs. A good place to learn about evolution!

ParticipantNational Geographic Society, one of the largest non-profit scientific and educational organizations in the world. Their interests include geography, archaeology, and conservation. The society often hosts talks and a variety of exhibits in the museum. They also have a great cafeteria that in pre-pandemic times was open to the public!

ParticipantChased down an Argo AI car today. Argo AI is an autonomous driving car company based in Pittsburgh. According to Wikipedia, the major investors are Ford and Volkswagen and DC is one of the test sites. All those stop signs and lights in DC are probably good for testing!

ParticipantWind Tunnel
The Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel is a state-of-the-art low speed wind tunnel that has been actively involved in aerodynamic research and development since 1949.
It is large enough to perform extensive development tests for a wide range of vehicles and other systems and is well suited for conducting major research efforts in low speed aerodynamics and hydrodynamics.

ParticipantNewton
The unit of force in the meter-kilogram-second system equal to the force required to impart an acceleration of one meter per second per second to a mass of one kilogram.
Also, a well traveled street that connects Prince George’s Country cyclist to the MBT through NE DC. Some might not like the climb, but just think, as you pull up, gravity pulls back down, pushing you up the hill!

ParticipantThe McMillan sand filtration site, always fun to see when biking around the reservoir by Howard University. When it was completed in 1905 it was considered state of the art using sand instead of chemicals to purify water. Would love to take a tour to check out the catacomb-like cells underneath.
