Having a a cup of salter caramel gelato at the new Boccato’s on Mount Vernon Avenue, Alexandria. While technically not ice cream, it sure was good and much better than frozen yogurt.

Have some more ice cream in historic Middletown, MD in a property built in 1910! Sadly, they are closed for the winter.

Just a few stores down at Westover from yesterday’s clock tower is Toby’s Ice Cream. Years ago this location was a bakery, then it became an ice cream shop called “Scoops Beauregard” (as some FS participants well know), then eventually it became Toby’s.

Participant2/6/21 – Ice Cream for B’fast Day
Sounded like a good excuse to ride to the Bluemont General Store. Luckily, they are open and serve ice cream!

Instead of ice cream for breakfast, ice cream for dinner at Jubilee!

Participant2/6/21 – ice cream & selfie
I went to Toby’s too (I live a mile from Accordioneur [emoji16].) The selfie with ice cream thing was challenging given my lactose intolerance and sugar avoidance – but my husband was happy to help. [emoji38]
Sooooo I brought a stuff backpack on my li’l ride, got a covered cup of mint chip, first on his list, and stopped at Toby’s at the end right before the last mile to home. Good thing it’s February! [emoji38]
I couldn’t fit the name of the place into my selfie – I coulda taken the pic from the street, but I’m frankly not that comfortable leaning my bike against a wall and going that far from it. Nevermind the Arlington crime rate – I’m just not doing it. You can see the awning with the name of the place if you scroll up a bit to Accordioneur’s picture. Or lookit my Strava post from today – it’s a quax, too. [emoji16]

Ice Cream at The Fairy Godmother in Alexandria
https://www.strava.com/activities/4746698945That looks like a cup of pecans. Is there butter underneath to make it Butter Pecan?

Class 520 Thai Ice Cream located in College Park. Trip to Hawaii flavor was pretty good. [emoji39]

So nice of your husband to be so sacrificial for your ride.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]23751[/ATTACH]What? Rolled? Where is that? Did it taste any different? That might be a field trip destination!

It’s a place called Class 520, on the College Park University of Maryland campus. They pour the unfrozen ice cream onto a large cold plate, mix it, and then peel it up to make the rolls. It tastes about the same, but the first one I had, for instance, was lychee, and was delicious with chunks of fruit in it.

Excellent goal today! As I’ve already mentioned to a few people, eating ice cream outside in the winter reminds me of my semester in Moscow, because the outdoor ice cream selling kiosks were open all winter long and yes I had ice cream outside in the winter in a very snowy Moscow and that was fun.
Luckily as this was during a bike ride, today wasn’t as cold as a Moscow winter, so going down to Ice Cream Jubilee in the Navy Yard was a joy. They’re having their limited edition Chinese New Year flavors, and I chose the sweet red bean and almond cookie ice cream. Delicious!
