2/2/2021 — dog. My original plan was to go to the nearby dog park, where there were bound to be dogs romping in the snow. But on my way there, I passed a woman walking her Scottish Terrier. The dog’s black fur was such a striking contrast with the white snow that I u-turned and asked if I could take her dog’s photo. The very nice lady agreed and even tried to get her baffled dog to pose for me. And we had a pleasant conversation about how wonderful it is to have a real snowfall, after two years without.

This is Monty, part Australian Cattledog park mutt, out for a snowy stroll with his people.
Grateful drevil tossed us a bone today (pun intended). Was a little concerned we’d all be out looking for groundhogs!

I saw a number of lovely examples on my ride and decided that I would share this example, given the large number of dog fans out there.

A good dog demonstrating an excellent sit and stay while on his walk today.

On February 2, 1925, dog mushers arrive in Nome, Alaska riding through unimaginably harsh conditions to complete the Serum Run. It later became the inspiration for the Iditarod Race and later the Iditabike.
On your ride, capture a dog in a photo out in the wild, and post here.
Happy hunting!

Luckily dogs like the snow and can easily convince their owners to take them outside. They were everywhere; didn’t need to find a dog park…just stop on every block and say hi to another dog
This is Olive, a neighborhood regular enjoying a lunchtime romp.

Dog (but not your own)
This dog’s owner seemed to have just given up on getting her dog to play catch-the-snowball. Several young girls (out of the picture to the right) were throwing snowballs towards the dog and yelling “Catch it!” but Fido was totally indifferent.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ParticipantI had a goal in mind, but several slushy, treacherous neighborhood streets later, I decided that the next dog I saw would be “it”. And I saw … FIVE dogs out walking their humans. The girls were delighted for their furry babies to star in a scavenger hunt photo. The dogs were indifferent.

This turned out to be harder than I thought it would be. I rode my bike on neighborhood streets and it wasn’t until the 8th mile that I finally found a dog. The dogs’ humans got a good laugh when I told them why I wanted to take their dogs’ picture. The dogs were kind enough to pose for me.

No dogs in the Alexandria dog parks I went by, but there plenty strolling on the streets. Owners seemed quite happy to have their dogs pose for pictures.

I initially planned to go to Lost Dog Cafe for a picture of their fantastic wall art, but rode by this guy, who was so darn cute, & posed so well, that he seemed to steal the moment. [emoji4]

I held off on my ride until late afternoon for two reasons. First, I wanted to hit the trail at dog walking time, and second, there was a telecon that I needed to dial into, but just to listen. Nothing like getting paid to ride! Anyway, I was just a few blocks from home, traversing the Aronson-Claeys Bikeway, when I spotted a doggo. I whipped out my phone and just as I snapped the picture the dog “struck a pose”. The money shot on the first try!
