The only clue is that it isn’t the longest word. Based on the photo I wonder if it’s phrase or something related to the Tour de France.

1/31/21 – “Henri Desgrange” subanagram (5-letter or more word, not the object)
On January 31, 1865, the first organizer of the Tour de France – Henri Desgrange – was born. Using just the letters in his name, find a 5-letter or longer word (not the object) out in the wild. Same rules as usual for these subanagram hunts, the most important being: the word can’t be on something portable like an iPad, phone, or anything you bring yourself from home.
There is a bonus 2 points for this hunt for one person, to be revealed in the attached picture of the first TDF winner, after the day’s hunt is over. A clue is that it is not about finding the longest word.
If you’re in the DC area where it’s forecasted to be inclement weather, PLEASE be careful, and don’t take any risks for this hunt if it’s snowy or icy outside. It’s just 1 point in a long game.
Happy hunting!

Went out early before the snow that bad and came back ASAP, early morning snow ride. Subanagram for Henri Desgrange = Regina

David, please, ignore my dislike of your post. That was due to my inexperience with the forum features. I appreciate your answer and am still puzzled about the clue. If we need to decipher those pixelated words, that will not relate to riding and finding it. So that does not seem to comply with the rules.

“Gearing” … which may be the Tour de France [emoji632] clue in today’s Photo Scavenger pic: “Desgrange stood against the use of multiple gears and for many years insisted riders use wooden rims, fearing the heat of braking while coming down mountains would melt the glue that held the tires on metal rims (they were finally allowed in 1937).”

Can’t explain Drevil’s teaser game plan, but I noticed that your NAME is an option with this anagram. You can make “Serdar” from these letters! [emoji38]

1/31/2021 — “Henri Desgrange” subanagram. I went out for my decasleaze just after midnight and found a reference to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. If the photo isn’t clear, the full text under the heading The Federal Flood Control Project is “In 1974, Congress authorized the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to construct a flood control channel to contain the flow of a 100-year storm event. The project was completed and dedicated in August 1980.”

Would agree with HokieBeth and Boomer that there was a lack of gearing in the first Tour de France so I went to Gearin’ Up Bicycles.

Wow! That’s great! Now I wish there were businesses with my name. Google search did not yield any results.

1/31/21 – “Henri Desgrange” subanagram -“Garden”
Not only did I get the WORD garden, but I also got the object “Garden”. This is the Victory Garden at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Community Center in Arlington, VA.
