Participant1/15/21 bagel
And now that I’ve finally figured out how to post pictures here, here are my bagel pix from a few days ago…. I posted them on fb then, and cvcalhoun tried to help me figure out how to do it, but still I didn’t, till today (tapatalk this time, much simpler.)
This was Chesapeake Bagels at Lee Harrison in Arlington.
My husband, who ate the bagel, said it was the right balance between soft & chewy – but not that flavorful. But then he said that couldabin but it was a plain sesame bagel (as he’d requested.)Sorry about the forum lag time. [emoji16]

Participant1/19 Beetle
Spotted this classic 1967 Beetle in a carport in Alexandria. Saw two more classics on the way home and then a 2nd generation in Old Town. I had a friend in college who had a baby blue classic convertible Beetle. Had quite a few memorable road trips in that car.

Participant1/20/21 – The name of any U.S. president starting from FDR or after, but it can’t be on a yard sign or a car.
In 1937, January 20 was the first time a president was sworn in on that date (it was for Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s second term). Prior to this, all (regular) inaugurations were on March 4 after George Washington.
On your ride, take a pic of the name of any U.S. president starting from Roosevelt or after, but it can’t be on a yard sign and it can’t be on a car (sorry Gerald Ford fans
)
Happy hunting!

It’s within blocks of my house. I didn’t even have to think about it– just told Rumi that that was where we were going.

Greenbelt, MD was founded in part because of President FDR. Roosevelt Center in the heart of old Greenbelt is named after him.

1/20/21 — Name of a U.S. President. Here’s my bike at President Gerald R. Ford Park in Alexandria. This park is just down the hill from the house where Ford was living in August 1974 when Nixon resigned and Ford became president. There’s a plaque on the back of the park sign, with a prescient quote from Ford’s speech upon being sworn in as president: “I believe that truth is the glue that holds government together, not only our government, but civilization itself.”

That seems nicely in the spirit of the contest, impressive given you’re way over there. Also looks like a #parkfinder.
I’m impressed at how in the game you are this year given the distance. It’s like always except more interesting for those of us following you.

Participant1/20/21 – The name of any president since FDR but no yard sign or car.
This was actually harder than it might seem in Reston since VDOT controls the roads so renaming a street to honor any one is an uphill battle and not one people will take on lightly.
So I had to improvise. Not photoshop, but cropped.

I wonder if I get credit for two presidents since there were two with this name?
