Participant1/16 Brewing, Mead, distillery, or winery. I also snagged a pic of Rumi’s Meadworks jersey, but it’s not on a sign.

Port City Brewing on Wheeler Avenue. There is a Bikeshare station just a few feet from the entrance
In hopes of getting a coveted like from SteveO, I added my bike and smiling visage underneath the already classic FS gaiter.

On 1/16/1919, the 18th amendment (aka Prohibition) was ratified. Let’s stick it to the man and flex on how easy it is to get into the “spirit” of things now by posting one pic from your ride. Optionally, you can also let us know if there is anything in particular you like in/from/about this place.
Please be responsible on this quest! 😮
Happy hunting!
1/16/21 – The closest brewery was inside the red zone, so I opted for the 2nd closest.

Here is a lovely brewery in Hyattsville, MD – easily accessible by bicycle and started by two graduates of Gallaudet University – Streetcar 82 Brewing.

Participant1/16/21 — Settle Down Easy Brewing Co. in Falls Church
If you are eating at the nearby El Tio Mexican Restaurant, you can order your tasty beverage of choice from the Brewing Co.

1/16/2021 — brewing. My bike at New District Brewing Co. in Arlington. One thing I hadn’t noticed on previous visits: there’s a dog hitch outside for four-legged friends. In my photo, the sign for the dog hitch is partially hidden behind the white trailer, so it appropriately reads “DOG HI.”

I was leading a ride of the “New Deal” sites but always keeping in mind that I needed to get a daily photograph photo. Suddenly, I veered from the course (not the first time today, but I keep telling them to “trust me”) and ran the gauntlet of the dog park crowd (oh my goodness, way too many dogs there!) and snapped this. I didn’t stop for a beer, but waited until we returned to Reston and patronized our local bike shop/brewery…but Lefty Laura will post that photo.
What I like about New District — it’s conveniently located between the Holmes Run and W&OD Trails. Very easy to get to by bike, big warehouse size space so you can social distance. The last time I was there (pre-Covid), their beer was excellent although I can’t remember what I had.

So I know that dr. evil adjusted the rules so that one does not have to include their bike in their photo. Fine. His prize; he makes the rules.
However, you also earn a point for everythat you get. So, just for the record, if you don’t include your bike in a photo that you easily could have, I won’t like it and you’ll forgo that potential point.
Cheers,
Steve O
(note above photo includes both bike and smiling selfie, excellent example of one that deserves a)
(P.S. for clarification: just because you do include your bike doesn’t mean I will automatically like it, but if you do not, I definitely won’t)So…for all of us who are just glad to be on a bike and finding the thing that Drevil has asked us to find, if you don’t include your bike, I will counter balance Steve O and like your photo. Why? Because life has too many rules already and I just want to be contrary about this one. if Drevil doesn’t require it . . .

1/16/21 – Prohibition/brewing
Stopped by New District to get a bottle of their 5 year anniversary brew and a howler of their red ale.

As much as I hate to quote anything attributed to Ayn Rand, “If something is worth doing, it’s worth overdoing.” One ride, nine breweries, one beer (Star Eater Stout at ICONYC Brewing in Long Island City, Queens). This was basically my Sunday 3 Boros route, so I wasn’t making any extra effort (other than riding it on a Saturday) to ride by the breweries. There were a few others I could have included and being a Saturday they were open at noon.

After new dealing with kbikeva, back to the hood for a beverage in a tent with fire. Belgium Blond and Hellwig were on tap and were a fitting end to our ride outside on FxCo. Whether coffee or beer, good place, good company, nice LBS.
