I was excited for this one because I’ve been wanting to try Bagel Uprising in Alexandria. Today’s work schedule allowed me to indulge in a longer morning ride to grab a bagel before work so I headed on down. What bagel shop doesn’t open until 8? Oh well, I will have to try again on a weekend.

Oh bummer! That does sound late for a bagel shop – but maybe they adjusted their hours b/c fewer commuters? At least you got a great photo. And something to look forward to!

On 1/16/1919, the 18th amendment (aka Prohibition) was ratified. Let’s stick it to the man and flex on how easy it is to get into the “spirit” of things now by posting one pic from your ride. Optionally, you can also let us know if there is anything in particular you like in/from/about this place.

“Brewery” is not one of the acceptable choices?

No, I don’t need it to be. Just perplexed at the lack of parallelism (and probably being overly pedantic). Distillery is where you make spirits. Winery is where you make wine. One would think that brewery and meadery would be the parallel choices.

So I know that dr. evil adjusted the rules so that one does not have to include their bike in their photo. Fine. His prize; he makes the rules.
However, you also earn a point for every that you get. So, just for the record, if you don’t include your bike in a photo that you easily could have, I won’t like it and you’ll forgo that potential point.

1/16/2021 – Brewing
From Georgetown Square Wine and Beer. Since Montgomery County hasn’t quite figured out that Prohibition is over, beer and wine has to be sold in specialty shops rather than supermarkets, and liquor can be sold only by county-owned stores.
Alas, this was taken (just barely) before Steve’s rule was announced. But I’m not sure I could have gotten the bicycle in there anyway–it’s hard to get an overhead lit up sign legible at night while still showing the bike. Either the sign turns into a blur of light, or the bike disappears.
