A plane tree, aka a sycamore.
I asked my nine year old if she knew where I could find one of these, and she told me the exact closest block (thanks, MBear!).Per Casey Trees:
“the native American sycamore (also known as the American plane tree, occidental plane tree or buttonwood) is a prominent tree in the forests and waterways of the eastern United States. The sycamore stands out with its interesting bark, which separates into scaly plates that create a multicolored, mottled texture. The bark peels off, uncovering new white, brown, gray and green layers underneath.”Read more here: https://caseytrees.org/2011/02/tree-month-american-sycamore/

ParticipantHi everyone, someone pinged me to see if I could help her to post pictures to this thread via an Android/Chrome phone. Unfortunately, I am an iPhone user, so I’m not sure how to advise her.
On the iPhone, I find it easiest to use the Tapatalk app (I have the paid version). Are Android phone geeks using the app also, or do you have another easier/preferred method?

I’m no guru, but I post from chrome on my Android using the “go advanced” button. Click the little picture of the tree and then find your photo in “files.” After you select your photo you need to click “upload.” You can preview your post to make sure it came through.

I’ve never tried using Tapatalk — on my Android phone, I’ve just used mobile Chrome to navigate the forum and post things. AFAIK, there’s no mobile version of the website, so you just have a very unwieldy UI, and attaching images is basically the same as on a desktop, it just requires lots of zooming in to press small buttons. I will say that I generally use a browser on my laptop to write things/post images if possible, it’s just nicer with a larger screen and real keyboard (but what isn’t?). It might be worth a try?
The process looks something like this (very similar to the desktop UX):

Press the “Insert Image” button
Press “Choose file” (then get sent to file browser or photos app or whatever)
Select the image, then get sent back to the modal window you saw before, press “Upload file(s)”Once the upload is complete, you’ll see some markup added, and so the body of your post will look something like this:
Quote:This is my pretend post.
<-- this won't actually have that forward slash, I just couldn't figure out how to escape whatever triggers the tag parsing in a better way
More text can go hereThat’ll insert the image at the location indicated by that tag in your post. Don’t delete it!
Add whatever else to your post and then submit it.

1/11/21 – Plane – my first thought was head to the Air and Space Museum, but that’s so easy, when it’s only a mile away…..so I went in the opposite direction and found these at WWII Memorial.

I’ve only posted from my browser in a Windows PC, but there is an Android App for Tapatalk and based on signatures in this forum, it looks like many use it.

Participant1/11/21 – Airplane!
Found a variety of “airplane” themed this to photograph today, but this one nearly instantly popped to mind, so it’s what I’m going with for sharing here.

Fun stuff and I’m enjoying looking at everyone’s pics….great creativity & keen eyes to find stuff!

Crossing the bridge and seeing the plane in the middle of the roundabout used to signal you were close to the US Air Force Base called Torrejon. My dad closed down the American side of the base about 30 years ago…now its a Spanish air base where my brother-in-law works.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Some of you may remember from physics class that an inclined plane is one of the six simple machines (the others are Lever, Wheel and Axle, Pulley, Wedge, and Screw).
A bridge ramp is an example of an inclined plane. I remain optimistic that someday this one will carry W&OD riders over Rt. 29.
