I remembered passing this happy 80th birthday banner with balloons, and thankfully they’re still up! I hope he had a great 80th!

Participant1/9/21 – Balloons
A twofer day with Public Art and Picture of the day. I had an impossible time finding the mural. I had an address but that was not the mural site address. Without the keen eyesight of KBikeVA, I would still be stuck in OneLoudoun. (now to continue my story) a hard time tying the strings to the bike, but I was fortunate not to have the bike float up to the sky!!

And that’s why we don’t ride alone! What a fun day though. Thanks!

Participant1/9/21 – Balloons!
Took me 20min into my ride to find my first balloons.
Found a good variety today; liked the couple wind spinners in hot-air balloon shape, but the photo for posting is this nice mural in Rockville town center.

in Hyattsville. Rather hidden in an alley right off route 1 near Streetcar 82. West side of route 1. Look for the Welcome to Hyattsville mural then go down the alley next to it.

It’s in OneLoudoun – just off Russell Branch Parkway in Loudoun County.

Participant1/10/21 – Nut
In my research, George Washington Carver may have been born on January 10 (or January 1), 1864, but other sources say he may have been sometime in June also. He’s probably most well known for his work with peanuts, but I thought it would be tough to find “peanut”, so I’m shortening it to “nut”. Happy Hunting!

On January 9, 1793: “Blanchard made the first balloon flight in North America, on January 9, 1793, when he ascended from the Washington Prison Yard in Philadelphia and landed in Gloucester county, New Jersey. This flight, observed by President George Washington, spurred interest in ballooning in the United States.”
