On January 7, 1610, Galileo discovered 3 of the moons of Jupiter. Creative entries encouraged, but if your photo of your “moon” is not apparent, please explain. Happy hunting!
PS – no derrieres. This is a family friendly hunt!
I took a picture of a local restaurant named Harvest Moon this morning but held off posting because I wanted something else. After searching, I found them at the Westover Walgreens. I rode out quickly after work to get back in time for the BAFS HH to buy them. https://www.strava.com/activities/4584811670
I’m including a picture with the receipt as evidence I purchased them there!

Participant1/8/21 – Bell (but not on a bike) OR an Elvis
January 8 is Elvis Presley’s birthday. What were at the bottom of his jumpsuits? Bells! Post a pic of a bell that isn’t on a bike OR an Elvis you spot on your ride (just 1 pic please). Happy hunting!
Josh – the only acceptable answer from you (and only you) is the Liberty Bell since you left us to go to Philly

Participant1/8/21 – Bell (but not on a bike)
St. John’s Norwood appears to be one of the few churches in the area with an actual bell tower, complete with bells. This gratifies me, as my formerly Episcopalian heart is still convinced at some level that all churches must have Gothic architecture and a bell tower. This one lacks the former but at least has the latter.
Bonus: The church has a bike rack, and its website indicates that several of its members bike to church.

1/8/2021 — bell. I was thwarted several times in my quest to find a bell. I was all set to go to the Netherlands Carillon, until I remembered the bells have been removed for restoration. I rode to Virginia Theological Seminary, which has a set of bells from the same foundry that cast the original Liberty Bell and also Big Ben, but I discovered when I got there that the bells aren’t visible from the ground. I tried several nearby churches, but they were all either bell-less or had shutters covering up their bells. So finally I took the easy way out and stopped by a local Taco Bell.

1/8/2021: A bell, not on a bike.
On a scooter! With a nifty little compass feature!
The ironic thing is after riding around checking out the local schools and fire stations expecting to see bells, and then finding this humble and unassuming bell, I saw that my next-door neighbor has bells on his front door. (smh)
