On March 11, 1950, Bobby McFerrin – famous for the song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” – was born. Fun fact, this song was the first a cappella song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
So I was originally going to ask you to find a happy face, but that seems meh. To up it a notch and hopefully make it more fun, on your ride, find a face using pareidolia:
The tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual patternA few rules:
- Describe what you are seeing
- Don’t use an actual face
- It has to be outside
- It can’t be of or on a phone
Happy hunting!

Face in the clouds – top to bottom, eyes, a wide nose with a distinct point and bulbous nostrils on either side, and a mouth set in a straight (ish) line with a small beard beneath.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

While “pizza face” is an insult , this “pretzel face” seems warm and happy.
I’m not sure what a “cheese berger” is though…

I present… either the face of the cloud that Star rides in Star versus the Forces of Evil, or a Cyberman from Dr. Who. Or, if turned upside down, a Minecraft charactor face. In any case… this random piece of cardboard is a face!

I present knotty-eyed adult. S/he is a wry one with one open eye, a slight nose and a sideway smoothie mouth.

I’m quite sure I would not eat there!! I also notice the “grill cheese”. I think that’s the cheese they scrape off the grill when they are done making the berger’s.

I found several, a few houses that looked like faces, and a tree that sort of looked like one, but the one that I was drawn to the most was the emblem for this condo complex that looks kind of like an alien cat face.

this face just jumped out at me as I was cutting through the back of a shopping center. It’s on the back of a street sweeper and the sweeper’s name is Broom Bear. The eyes are closed with heavy eyelashes and has a tiny nose and a straight smile.

And don’t we wish people who are feeling angsty wore signs that said, “Keep Back 300 Feet!” This is a good one, Cathy!

The downside to waiting until dark to go on a ride – fewer things to look at easily to let the imagination run wild. As such: the standard outlet face. Out of focus, of course.

This logo looks like a face with eyes and a nose.

This is a questionable submission, but I’d argue this Amazon logo isn’t an actual face. Admittedly, it’s hard to say with something that’s as artificial and created as a logo/symbol.
[ATTACH=CONFIG]25036[/ATTACH]The arrow below the word “Amazon” is evocative of a mouth, and the roundness of the “a” and “o” leads one to view them as eyes. And we all know that eyes plus mouth make a face, the nose be damned!

I find these all the time, especially on forest hikes, but didn’t know there word for it. Thank you for the new vocabulary!
When we saw today’s challenge, my family all chimed “Mr. Compost Man!” Mr. Compost Man came to life when a face likeness appeared among the scraps in a neighbor’s compost pile, like a divine apparition. Walking by, kids enjoyed trying to see if they could spot it. The neighbor found out people were checking it out (pandemic entertainment!), so over the months Mr. Compost Man became more curated, with shell teeth, sometimes coconut husk eyes, sometimes potatoes, a corn cob nose…. Today the nose was a sweet potato over a stick mustache. But since now the face is intentional, I don’t know if it makes the cut for the photo contest. He’s in my Strava, but instead, I’ll submit this cute little face on the back of a sign in a mini playground, indented eyes, and a shy smile mouth.

I’ve always seen faces in cars – but I realized on my ride today that they’ve changed! They used to look a lot happier & cuter – or at least some of them did. While car faces still look like faces, today’s cars mostly look nonplussed. I wonder if that’s a reflection of social changes [emoji848]
Anyhow after scouring a coupla neighborhoods and finding all these bored looking cars, I finally have up & went down Anne’s cul de sac, where I know her neighbor has an old fashioned beetle. (Bet you can guess how I know that [emoji38][emoji1360]Go Drevil!) Beetles always look happy.
This Beetle was fronted into the driveway. They look a bit different from behind…..This one has a dark arched thing on the hood that when turned upside down makes a nice smile underneath the taillight eyes.
Oh and btw I love Bobby McFerrin – but “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” was so overplayed that I didn’t like him till after I heard some of his other stuff.
Among my favorites of his are: Yes, You
