    The woman’s face and bust are visible on the left side of the picture as she blows downward, roiling the water.

    This statue is called Lyrical Lady, and is supposed to be of a woman dancing. But the spaces under her arms look like eyes, the bottom of her dress looks like a nose, and the space where her legs should be looks like pursed lips. And she appears to have her hand with the thumb and index finger up against her cheek.

    On the mvt just past Alexandria Avenue, out on the way to fort hunt. There’s also one a bit further south in a parking lot in between fort hunt & mt Vernon just off the trail.

    Huh – all the times I’ve ridden the MVT and I’ve never noticed! But that’s true about a lot of these challenges to look at the world a different way! Thanks!

    So this is a speed limit sign but on its side the 8 looks like two eyes and the 0 is a mouth saying “ohhh”. And the red circle on the outside is the boundaries of the face! By the way I was going under the speed limit ! :)

    I see it! It’s much better than the way out was intended to be seen.

    This phone makes Bird Calls. Literally. I thought it was a joke until I checked it out myself (a few years ago; not sure how long it’s existed as an art piece). Dial a number to hear the song of a native Mid Atlantic bird. Brought to you by the lovely creative Village of Takoma Park; corner of Erie and Flower Avenues. See my cross-post to #PublicArtFinder for more pix!

    So does this not count as a payphone because of the screw blocking the coin slot?
    Boy if I ever do a pointless prize it’ll hafta be a li’l more like Calvinball…. I’d be inclined to give this one 4 points because it’s SO COOL.

    3/11/2021 — face (using pareidolia). I see a surprised face in this house: the upper windows are the eyes, the gables above the windows are the eyebrows, the gable above the front door is the nose, and the red door is the mouth. Maybe the house just saw an old friend it hasn’t seen in a while and is drawing in a breath to shout hello.

    Another fun one – or maybe they’re just way more fun when it’s perfect riding weather and you don’t have to rush home for zoom meetings!

    I biked from Reston down to Georgetown today to snag some points from Boomer in Public Art Finder. Along the way I saw so many faces! But crossing the Key bridge I kept seeing this ferocious wild cat face with pointy ears and fangs…and who knew about Capital Traction Company? I sure didn’t. Thanks, Drevil!

    The front entrance of The Salamander Resort — dormer windows are the eyes, triangle nose, and the gaping mouth between the pillars!

    For my pareidolia I present an upside-down bike lane icon.
    Two eyes = wheels
    Nose = body
    Mouth = head

    I was staring at way too many things on my ride looking for faces, but this one was the obvious choice for sharing here!

    The front view of a cute mailbox I found today.

    The white ‘headlights’ are the eyes. And, it is clearly smiling since feeding time is coming up soon!

    My face is a little silly. It’s wearing a cap that looks like its own little face with air holes for ventilation and a brim drawn in the sand to make a smile. The main face has big wide set eyes, a shadowy nose, and yellow bubblegum emerging from the corner of a stick mouth. This is how I found the face in the sand/on the toy on a playground.

    Side note: Sara McFerrin (Robert “Bobby” McFerrin Jr.’s mother) was a visiting professor in voice at the University of Oklahoma for a semester while I was an undergrad. Although not a vocal major, I attended one of the many master classes she held. My goodness she had a voice!!

    3/11/2021 face using pareidolia

    this face just jumped out at me as I was cutting through the back of a shopping center. It’s on the back of a street sweeper and the sweeper’s name is Broom Bear. The eyes are closed with heavy eyelashes and has a tiny nose and a straight smile.
