3/7/21 – Cookie Selfie

The things I’ll do for a cookie (or three)! On my longer ride this morning, I didn’t see any GS sellers, but when we stopped at a bakery, I got a huge chocolate chip cookie. You know, for carbo-loading.

After I got home, I saw the posting about the -GS Find-a-cookie, so I looked for the nearest place. I hopped on a bike share and headed to Adams Morgan, but no dice at the location. Then it was off to Georgetown to Saxbys. They were out of Samoas, my favorite, so I picked up some lemon-ups.

Honestly, my favorite cookie is hot out of the oven at home, like a salted toffee, my latest batch.

Thanks to my riding partner, Lefty Laura, I have the goods to garnish 2 points without having to actually purchase any myself. If I’d known how bad this was going to look at the end of a ride, I might have done it differently, but there you are.

After yesterday’s successful collaboration on combining periodic elements, [mention]HokieBeth [/mention] and I joined forces once again today to share the last oatmeal raisin cookie at Firehook Bakery in Alexandria VA, 20 minutes after their closing hour, as I was able to sweet talk my way in by explaining why we needed a cookie [emoji514]!

3/7/21 Girl Scout cookie
I have six boxes in my freezer, and definitely don’t need more. But I figure I was the easiest customer they had all day. I didn’t care that they were out of Thin Mints, because I wasn’t planning on eating the cookies anyway. I gave them a $10 bill for a $6 box of cookies, and told them they could consider the extra to be a donation rather than giving me change. I never removed my mask. And when I finished photographing the box of cookies, I put it in the box for donations to teachers.

Then again, I hear that buying Girl Scout cookies will support transgender lesbian Socialist Satanists. In that case, I should have bought several more boxes!

I contacted my local Girl Scout cookie resource and scored a box of thin mints, probably my personal favorites. Hopped on the bike, picked up the cookies, met KbikeVA, rode to the art ride. We had a lovely time cruising Reston art, followed by socially-distance tacos at tacos zocalo. Tacos and thin mints is a real party! Please note box on my shoulder. (Sounds like a John Denver tune)
