Not sure how much business they’re getting right now, Bowlero in Leesburg is in a very high-tone shopping center!

Since I was planning a 2 Beth ride starting & ending in Georgetown today I found this place for me & Hokiebeth. I see I’m not the first to post a pic of it…. I won’t be the last either [emoji38]…. Look for a pic from Hokiebeth taken from just left of mine….

BTW 2 Beth rides are the bomb. CivilWar Beth = RoutePlannerBeth. She got me my hills back, which I had lost w/radiation lung damage. Riding with friends is the best.

Looking forward to post vaccine riding when we can feel safer about including more & newer riders!

It’s amazing what you can find in the Little Free Libraries. Especially when the little free libraries are for things other than books. In our area, we have a puzzle library and a games library. And I found a bowling game. So I set up a bowling ‘alley’. Will that work? 😮

    Duckpins anybody?
They are open for business and there were a few cars in the parking lot.
And, yes! I had to go back up that hill. The bowling alley is on a dead-end road.

The Eleanor near the MBT on Florida Ave NE is closed temporarily, but has two duckpin-esque lanes as part of its “bowling lounge”

Nadine found this and I just tagged along.

Fun fact: I actually got a varsity letter in High School for bowling. It was a men’s sport and so I also have the distinction of being the first woman to letter in a men’s sport at my high school. My average was low 180’s.

    It’s ain’t much but it’s all I got [emoji2370]

After feeling the first wind gust I was tempted to call up a neighbor who is a potter to see if she wanted to set up her pottery wheel and other bowl-making accoutrements (aka “bowling” materials) in a local alley 😉…. But instead I persevered and made it to Rinaldi’s Riverdale Bowl, very thankful that I overrode Google map’s directions that would have kept me on Kenilworth Avenue longer than necessary!

Vintage Lanes in Leesburg, enjoy in you spare time and strike up a masked conversation.

Bikedavid, Nadine, and HokieBeth were here earlier, so I’ll pick up the spare by getting picture of another one of their banners

It’s so nice that the local Bowlero decided to coordinate with my bicycle!

College Park Lanes aka Bowlero. I serenaded my biking buddies, humming Ravel’s “Bolero”, made famous by the movie “10” starring Bo Derek. (They were unimpressed.)

This one makes me sad. It used to be a Bowl America, and I often took my kids and their friends there for birthday parties, or just for weekend entertainment. It had a child friendly atmosphere, crappy food that the kids loved, and duckpins for those too little to hold a regular bowling ball. But like so much of Bethesda, it got “upgraded.” They added adult beverages, better food, loud music, and a club-type atmosphere, and deleted the duckpins. It’s closed for the pandemic now, but even once it reopens (scheduled for April 4), it won’t be a place I can ever take my grandchildren.

Just give me about five more minutes, and I’ll start using expressions like “in my day” and “whipper snapper”! :D
