I had so much fun with this today. I’ve noticed these things popping up all over so I decided to use the map to make a general outline of a ride but allow myself to ‘free flow’ if I saw others. My plan was to take a photo at each one and then decide which one to post based on some random criteria. I could have gone with prettiest, best stocked (as in full), scariest (the one on the playground at the elementary school where kids were outside playing but as people went through the area on bikes or walking the teachers gathered them in like a mama hen with chicks), most thoughtful (the one with a step stool for little ones to climb up and select their own books) or funniest (the one with 9 3/4 on it).
In the end, after 26 miles and 20 little free libraries, I came back to one of the ones near my neighborhood that is beautifully painted. Sadly, due to our photo limitations I can’t show you all four sides because they are each truly worth seeing. The back of it has a spider web with ‘READ’ in it, shades of Charlotte’s Web. This LFL is NOT on the map, but if you’re going to be in the Fox Mill area of Herndon and want to know where it is, I’ll be happy to tell you. (And take notice the car in the driveway has a bike carrier on the back – these are GOOD people!)

You’re only about 22km away from an official Little Free Library (charter #3700)! We all know that’s nothing compared to your typical ride distance this BAFS. You’d better hope drevil’s not too much of a stickler for his own rules.
Funny i went to the map and nothing came up for “nearby” but when I put in the number you had something came up downtown in the middle of a school…I’ll check it out. Took Drevil’s easy way out since today could be considered “extra mile day”. I had a terrible shaking in my front tire while doing loops close to home just in case it completely came off before I got to the shop, I dropped my phone in the water and wasn’t sure it would work and they announced yesterday the town I live in is quarantined and we should not leave the town limits. Ughh

There are so many little free libraries near me in Falls Church that it would have been a fun challenge to see how many I could visit within 1.5 miles of my house. But instead I visited the one that also features a Little Dog Toy Library [emoji240].

I didn’t consult the site to find this one in Mitchell Park, I just figured it would be there.
I even made a deposit, dropping off a copy of “Up in the Air”, by Walter Kirn. It’s a quintessential pre-9/11 story about the quest for frequent flier miles. Not that much different than our quest for freezing miles, now that I think about it….

I’ve always liked this LFL in my neighborhood, because the owners built a “mini me” for their house!

Like many Freezing Saddles, I too have a free little library around the corner and down the street on Shreve Road (and Hillsman, unregistered LFL), so I went there first, and then did my daily BAFS ride.

The one in Boonsboro, MD has gone rogue!
I have to confess, this is the closest I’ve ever been to one of these.
P.S. Apologies for not liking any of the posts for this challenge. I usually like posts that are interesting to me and stand out in some way, but these are all a bunch of boxes with books and bikes next to them. They all look the same to me!!

Maybe they have the banned Dr. Seuss books??
