Participant2/28/21 – the word “Mattress” on a sign
In 2011, someone (seriously?!!?) created National Public Sleeping Day, which is celebrated every February 28. Let’s celebrate by going for a ride and seeking the word “mattress”. (This one’s more goofy than usual, I know
)
Happy hunting!
If you haven’t seen the supremely silly but extremely talented biker Sam Pilgrim, well, watch him get rad on a headboard bike:

Uninspired today. Took the easy way out and just photographed one of the many BLM signs in the neighborhood.

STI also stands for sexually transmitted infection. That’s what it meant in MY former life. [emoji16] (I was an AIDS/Health educator 88-03.)
Nadine, I was going with a theme – not only did I walk through the whole word with three letter acronyms, but they all related to my simulation work in 90’s. Fortunately, I have no personal conection to your definition of STI.

2/27/21 – Black and/or White. Well, the sign says ‘black’ but it is IN black and white, if that counts for the white.

On February 27, 1981, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder started recording Ebony and Ivory. Fun fact: while Billboard magazine ranked it #59 of the Hot 100 songs of all-time, Blender magazine named it the tenth worst song of all time.
On your ride, find the word “black” or “white” on a sign. If you capture both words in one snapshot, you’ll get 2 points.
Happy hunting!

When I saw this one, I knew I had to get a photo of Bethesda’s weird little Mattress Row. We have a Mattress Warehouse at 6930 Wisconsin Avenue. And we have a Mattress Firm at 6950 Wisconsin Ave. There is only one building between them (a Verizon store), so I was able to get signs for both into one shot.The Mattress Firm has big signs all over it saying that it is having a sale because it is closing. So you’d think maybe it was trying to move away from the competition? Not really. It is just moving to 7020 Wisconsin Ave., less than a block away.
In any event, I doubt either store is currently allowing people to engage in public sleeping on their mattresses, what with the pandemic and all.

I know [emoji16] I enjoyed your work related acronyms all throughout that one long word. It just made me smile that my work history had such a completely different meaning associated with that acronym.

These cookies are what came to my brain when I saw what drevil asked us to get, but I couldn’t think of where I might find them! Good job spotting them, Laurie!

The mattress store wonder that is Columbia Heights. Didn’t realize my phone was set on 3x zoom for the quick photo stop (shoe cover zipper broke so I had one heavy water-filled shoe encouraging me to get home ASAP)…for the record, this one is of the “Warehouse” variety.
