Peace pole at the Franciscan Monastery in NE DC. It reads “May peace prevail on Earth” in several languages and is part of a global peace messaging movement that started in Japan after WWII:

It works in context: “Rodef Shalom” is a phrase meaning “pursuer of peace”. I’m embarrassed that I didn’t think of this one.

On February 22, 1994, Prince is granted the trademark on the love symbol he has been using as his name.

On your ride, since Purple Rain might be a little hard to find, seek a purple house. The house does not have to be totally purple — it can have purple shutters or a door. Any shade of purple is fine, as long as it’s not pink.

Arrrgh! Are you sure that wasn’t Feb. 23? I have so many cool purple houses I see (but not on a wet and miserable day)!! They are too far away.

2/21/21 – Peace (Symbol or Word)

No need to plan ahead for challenges like this. Fun to just explore and see what you find (as it should be lots around DC).
My first find, a peace symbol yard sign, did take more time than I expected. But, overall, there were plenty in 2hrs of riding.
Pictured here is one I found at very end of my ride; I made a last minute decision to change blocks and it was serendipitous….

This car was made for today…the symbol and word (many times).
