Check out this fine-feathered mask that I found!

    The word and the likeness

Hah! They were a client of my firm (back when I worked as a CPA/Accountant). They had been with the firm since the 1950’s! (Maybe earlier. And, no. I was not around that long. I started in the 80’s.)

Just the word “mask” here, and the boring type at that [emoji28]. But at least I have a bike commute!

2/16/21 – crown or MASK with eyeholes –
    happy Mardi Gras!

Man I thought a crown would be easier to find because now everyone’s wearing lower face masks – who’s gonna wanna cover the rest of their face TOO?

But no crowns ANYwhere! And then when we were in Herndon Anne saw this in a store window!

I kept angling the pic to get less reflection but that turned out not to be possible – it was only possible to choose WHICH reflection. Here’s one with my bike in it. (There were a couple with a reflection of me reaching up. Maybe I’ll put one of those on Strava.)

2/16/21 – Mardi Gras crown or mask

OK, so WHERE WAS THIS YESTERDAY when I needed a skeleton??? Actually, I found another skeleton yesterday (on a book in a Little Free Library) so I’m glad I found this one today to use for Mardi Gras. We have BOTH a mask with eyeholes – AND – a crown! Gotta love it!

This house is part of the Krewe of House Floats- all dressed up in spirit with their kindred in NOLA (it was hard to only include one picture this time!)! At the corner of Allison & Cameron Mills in Alexandria.

2/16/2021 — crown. Here’s my bike visiting Royal Restaurant, which has two crowns in its store sign (visible between the power lines). I had already quaxed for breakfast before I went to Royal Restaurant, so I’ll have to swing by again and get my quax in another day.

This probably doesn’t count, but laissez les bons temps rouler, anyway! After biking back to our rental place, my daughter baked the Mardi Gras treat with King Arthur flour products, which, she pointed out, sport a crown logo.

Not a lot of Mardi Gras celebratory decorations out in the ‘burb neighborhoods for me today.
Found a couple though, and here is a mask on a sign in Vienna.

    2/16 – Crown or Mask

Didn’t get to go out until after dinner (and the DDOT ANC 5E presentation), and with the howling wind, was limited in my scope. In a panic, I took a picture of a Starbucks logo (she’s wearing a crown!) but then I remembered this gem of a place on the Arts Walk.

Only Make Believe is a wonderful organization whose DC office is Brookland-adjacent. For this purpose: their logo has traditional theater masks with jester crowns.cb939f19b26d98c58fa1a09340416eb6.jpg

So another sad day, I didn’t make a king cake, I didn’t get out my beads, I didn’t wonder who would get the baby, dentist appointment and in search of a crown. I used to be the dog owner of a Newfoundland, large dog, picked on by all those little dogs all the time. It’s kind of like my picture for today. A large company picked on all the time. Not even allowed to participate in the coffee snob rides. So I now present to you in all her green glory the Starbucks crown!

I hear you! She’s there when you need her. What’s wrong with a short dark roast once in awhile?!! [emoji23]
